Heading into the middle of the work work, more sunny skies and warm temperatures are on tap for Wednesday with highs in the mid-60s. Activities around town include a yoga class offered through Carson Tahoe Health and Wellness, a midweek meditation series offered at Carson City Yoga, a firearms course, plus Salsa dancing at Yaple's Ballroom, country and pop dancing at Carson Lanes, a safety workshop for women, a Carson Valley Trails Association celebration more.

Here's what's happening Wednesday:

— NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course and Firearms Instructor Development Course. Carson Guns has teamed up with Reno Guns & Range to host an NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course on Wednesday March 4, 2020 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and an NRA Pistol Instructor course on March 5-6, 2020. Both courses will be taught by NRA Appointed Training Counselor Randall Brooks, a Carson City local. The NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course – (Instructor Led Only) will emphasize the safe and proper handling and use of pistols. Participants will learn about firearm safety, parts and operation, shooting fundamentals, care and cleaning, storage options, selection, and more. During the NRA Instructor course, the instructor candidates will learn NRA policies and procedures; basic public speaking skills; training methodology; use of a training team and training aids; organizing a course, building a budget; and finally preparing to teach. — Rural Outreach for those in Carson City, Dayton and Virginia City. 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. As part of rural outreach, Care Chest of Sierra Nevada provide free medical equipment, supplies and resources to Carson City, Dayton, and Virginia City. — Capital City Arts Initiative to present 'Impact' exhibition featuring Lake Tahoe artist Paula Chung. Daily through May 28. The Capital City Arts Initiative presents its exhibition "Impact" by artist Paula Chung at the CCAI Courthouse Gallery in Carson City. The exhibition will be in the gallery through May 28, 2020. The Courthouse is located at 885 E Musser Street, Carson City. The gallery is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Paula Chung’s Impact works address violence on sports fields, battlefields, and the streets. Through the use of medical imagery, she illustrates how violence affects us all.

— Capital City Arts Initiative presents 'Photo Finished 2020' exhibition. Daily. The Capital City Arts Initiative announces its exhibition, Photo Finished 2020, at the Community Development Building, the Brick, 108 E Proctor Street, Carson City. Nine students from Carson High School’s Advanced Photography program have work in the exhibit. The free exhibition is available to the public through March 26, 2020, Mondays through Fridays, 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. The Carson High students include Jackie Garza, Ansley Griffin, Karla Herrera, Meagan Kiesow, Kayee Konze, Kailee Luschar, Vanessa Martinez, Haley Trost, and Valerie Wamsley. The artists are all students in Kara Ferrin’s Advanced Photography class.

— Nevada Artists Association Judged Winter Show to run through March 27. 10 a.m. Nevada Artists Association presents the Winter Show. This is a judged show presenting a wide array of entries from Northern Nevada artists. This show runs through March 27. The Gallery is located at 449 W. King Street in Carson City and is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. everyday, except Monday. — Open Studio Painting at the Brewery Arts Center. 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Work on your own paintings from subject matter you chose for yourself. The instructor will provide one on one instruction throughout the class. Students may use oil, acrylic, or watercolor paint. Dry media is also welcome. Bring your own supplies and source materials (such as photographs or drawings you wish to paint). This in an open enrollment drop in class so there is no need to enroll in advance. — Yoga 4 Life with Ruth Chan offered Wednesdays through Carson Tahoe Health and Wellness. 11:30 a.m. You’ve probably heard that Yoga is good for you. Maybe you’ve even tried it and discovered that it makes you feel better. Regular practice can offer all kinds of mental and physical health benefits. Some, like improved flexibility, are clearly evident. Others, including mental clarity and stress reduction, maybe more subtle but are just as powerful. When putting together, the benefits contribute to an increased feeling of well-being. Join us every Wednesday from 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM at the Health & Wellness Institute, Suite 250, 1470 Medical Pkwy, Carson City. Cost: $5 per class or 10 classes for $40.

— Midweek Meditation Series offered through Carson City Yoga. 3:30 p.m. Midweek Meditation with Jenn Andrews runs for 8 weeks at a time. The first series this year begins January 22nd. You can come to the full 8 week series, or just come to each class individually when you can. Wednesday Evenings 3:30-5pm through March 11. Class is at the 7th St Studio: 116 E 7th St, #4. Class is on a “pay what you can” option. No payment is required, and if you do choose to make a financial offering, it supports the time and energy of the teacher, and helps pay for the space. — Ladies Night at Bella Vita Bistro. 4 to 7 p.m. Every Wednesday is Ladies Night at Bella Vita Bistro! Come on in and bring your girlfriends and try our amazing Martini of the night. 1304 South Stewart St., Carson City.

— Wine and Dine Watercolor Classes at Black Bear Diner inside Max Casino. 4:15 to 5:45 p.m. Students get a reminder text each week. Drop in basis — no monthly commitment necessary. — Carson Valley Trails Association Annual Meeting & Member Celebration. 5:30 p.m. The Carson Valley Trails Association (CVTA) will host the organization’s annual meeting and member celebration on Wednesday, March 4, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., at the Douglas County Community and Senior Center, 1329 Waterloo Lane, Gardnerville. The evening will feature trails information and updates, complimentary refreshments, raffle prizes, and a no-host bar. The event is free and open to the public. The Carson Valley Trails Association is a nonprofit, volunteer based organization working with partners to provide access to public lands through a recreational trail system for present and future generations to enjoy. — Seeking Safety workshops continue Wednesdays through March. 5:30 p.m. A 12-week public workshop called Seeking Safety meet Wednesdays through March 25. Seeking Safety is an evidence-based curriculum gained at helping women develop skills to keep themselves out of unsafe relationships and avoid self-abuse of drugs or alcohol. The workshops are open to women and participants are encouraged to attend any of them. The workshops are facilitated by licensed counselors. The workshops are offered by counselors through the Community Counseling Center that received special training paid for by a grant through Carson City Health and Human Services. Workshops will be held 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. Wednesdays, in the meeting room at Salvation Army, 911 East Second Street, Carson City. — Salsa Group Class in Downtown Carson City. 7 p.m. Every Wednesday at 7 pm join us to learn the popular dance of Salsa! Cost is $10 per person. Start with a warm up of the dance steps then try them with a partner. Don’t have a partner? That is ok. Singles are mixed to make sure everyone gets a chance to try dancing with a partner.
