Outdoors with Don Q: The new Nevada fishing license year
If you’re a fisherman or fisherwoman, it’s that time of the year to remind you to purchase your Nevada 2015-2016 fishing license. That new fishing license year begins on Sunday, March 1 and will run through the last day in February, 2016.
As a special tip you would be well advised to purchase that new license ASAP, because if you forget and go fishing after March 1 and happen to get checked by “The Friendly Old Game Warden,” he isn’t going to be happy nor will you. So, if you are one of the many folks who need to buy a new license, here is a ton of information regarding fishing licenses, stamps and permits.

To Purchase Licenses on-line:
You may use the NDOW website, www.ndow.org, to purchase hunting, trapping and fishing privileges and stamp privileges.
If you purchase a stamp privilege, you are NOT purchasing a physical stamp that will be affixed to your license. Instead, you will be purchasing an electronic stamp privilege that will remain a part of your records.
If you are interested in purchasing an actual physical stamp you will need to purchase the stamp at an NDOW office or select vendors.
When applying via the internet, you will be assessed a $2.00 application fee. If you need more information regarding the Nevada Department of Wildlife's hunting, trapping and fishing regulations, go to the NDOW Homepage to view regulations prior to purchasing a license.
For Information:
Call the Fisheries Division of the Nevada Department of Wildlife headquarters in Reno at 688-1500 during regular business hours or go to the NDOW Internet website at www.ndow.org.
Bet Your favorite Pigeon
Bet your favorite pigeon that he can’t tell you which Nevada license and stamps I plan to buy for the year 2015-2016.
If he grins and says, “Don plans to buy the senior combination license, with a trout stamp and a second rod stamp,” he could have been watching when I ordered them last year, via the NDOW website at www.ndow.org.
