Carson City arrest log: Man jailed after fight with father-in-law

A 35-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday at a Highway 50 East convenience store on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery after allegedly fighting with his father-in-law, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

The Douglas County Historical Society's May 12, lecture "Nevadans: Spirit of the Silver State" at the Carson Valley Museum and Cultural Center in Gardnerville, will feature well known Nevada Author Stan Paher.

Stan's "Nevada: Spirit of the Silver State" is a powerpoint presentation that begins before Nevada became the Utah territory. Learn how early trappers, explorers and emigrants set the framework for modern Nevada. Early trading posts, like Mormon Station, became the backbone for later territorial settlements that still later morphed into some of our existing towns and cities.

A 30-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday, 5:30 p.m. on a felony warrant, suspicion of lewdness with a minor under 14 years of age, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

As part of a Carson City hazardous fuels reduction and invasive weed project, sheep will be placed along the west side of Carson City to reduce the fuel load by removing fine fuels, including cheatgrass and other non-native vegetation, from the wildland urban interface.

Carson City sheriff’s arrest log: Deputies shut down drug house with warrant, six jailed

Three were arrested Saturday on felony suspicion of maintaining a drug house after deputies received a warrant to search an apartment unit in an East Carson City complex considered a high crime area for drug sales, a deputy with the Carson City Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Team said.

This winter’s abundant precipitation is resulting in a prolific display of a little yellow flower native only to western Nevada. The Carson Valley monkeyflower (Erythranthe carsonensis) is only found in the foothills and valley bottoms from the Red Rocks area north of Reno to the little town of Dresslerville, west of Gardnerville.

Carson City arrests: Woman jailed on shoplifting, contributing to delinquency charges

A 19-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Wednesday, 7:17 p.m. at the Walmart store in the 3200 block of Market Street on misdemeanor suspicion of petit larceny, contributing to the delinquency of minors and a contempt of court warrant, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Firefighters in Douglas County respond to apartment fire in Gardnerville

East Fork Fire Protection District firefighters in Douglas County were called just before 1 p.m. to a structure fire at an apartment complex in the 1300 block of El Dorado Drive off of Waterloo in Gardnerville.
The apartment was evacuated and Red Cross was called to assist seven people, 4 adults, two children and an infant who are now displaced because of the fire.
The cause is under investigation. Carson City Fire Department was called as a mutual aid to backup other stations called to fight the fire.

Gaming revenue for Carson City casinos climbs to 7.7 percent in February

Carson City area casino gaming revenue in February rose nearly 7.7 percent compared to 2015 figures for the month, according to a report released Wednesday by the Nevada Gaming Control Board.

Casinos in Carson City, Minden, Gardnerville and other areas of Douglas County except for Stateline at Lake Tahoe saw gaming revenue for the month, also known as “gaming win” of $7,767,314 or 7.69 percent.
