Carson City sheriff’s log: Former Walmart employee, accomplice arrested for shoplifting
A 39-year-old Carson City woman and a 49-year-old Gardnerville woman were arrested Monday on suspicion of misdemeanor petit larceny after the two allegedly attempted to steal more than $300 in merchandise from Walmart, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, deputies responded at 4:40 p.m. to the store at 3200 Market Street and met with a loss prevention officer who advised he observed the former female employee and another woman conceal items in their purse while in the self check out area.
The security officer said the women bagged items in the self check out line but did not scan all the items. The items not paid for totaled $310.08 and included food, health and beauty items such as shampoo and conditioner, makeup and clothing.
The women passed all points of pay and were stopped outside in the parking lot by store security. Video was downloaded and booked into evidence. Bail: $352 each.
In other arrests:
— A 32-year-old Battle Mountain man was booked into jail Monday, 10:30 p.m. on a warrant for criminal contempt issued Nov. 23, 2015 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $510.
— A 49-year-old transient was arrested Monday, 5:49 p.m. in the area of Silver Sage and Clearview on a misdemeanor failure to appear warrant issued in July 2014 out of East Fork Township Court. According to the arrest report, an officer observed a man riding a bicycle and failed to stop at a stop sign while going southbound on Silver Sage. The officer made contact with the man. Dispatch confirmed an active confirmed warrant out of Douglas County. Bail: $1,000.
— A 34-year-old South Lake Tahoe man was booked Monday, 9 p.m. into Carson City jail on a failure to appear warrant issued out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000.
