June 17th kicks off Carson City Parks, Recreation & Open Space’s first annual Pollinator Week! Come out and celebrate pollinators and what they do for the environment at one or all of the many interpretive programs for the week.

Carson City Bee Hotel now open for business thanks to Chamber students

At the ribbon cutting ceremony held on Friday, quite a number of bees were seen buzzing around the new bee hotel soon to choose their future accommodation.

Released behind the Carson Tahoe Health Cancer Center at the trailhead of the one-mile long Serenity Trail on Thursday, 150 Mason bees couldn’t wait to be freed from their boxes by their foster mother, Debra Conrad, a member of the class who kept the bees until they could be released.

Tuesday Evening Hike
June 11, 5:30 pm – Kings Canyon Trail/Lincoln Highway. Meet at the west end of Kings Canyon Road by the trailhead, CC. We will hike to Horse Creek Ranch meadow and back. Water and closed-toed shoes required. Hat and poles recommended.

Wheeled Food Wednesdays at the BAC

Wheeled Food Wednesday is back! The BAC will be hosting food trucks every Wednesday this summer, starting June 19th and going until September 19th! The trucks will start serving at 5:30pm and go until 8:00pm. There will be a wide variety of food trucks, so everyone will be able to find something they love. There will be kid’s activities—including a bounce house—and performances from different musicians throughout the year.

V&T Railway Toast of the Canyon train tours return; will feature local and regional wineries, distilleries and breweries

CARSON CITY — Returning for the 2019 season, the V&T Railway’s popular Toast of the Canyon train rides kicks off on Saturday, June 15 and will feature area wineries, distilleries and breweries. The event, which runs every other Saturday through October, takes passengers into the Carson River Canyon to enjoy libations and appetizers.

Carson City man jailed after victim sets up sting to recover stolen saw found on social media

A 39-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday for felony suspicion of possession of stolen property and obtaining money under false pretenses after allegedly selling a saw to the victim of a burglary after the victim discovered the equipment for sale on a social media site, a sheriff's deputy said.
