Nevada State Fair, Carson City Fair return to Carson City

Two exciting fairs return to Carson City, kicking off the warm days and long summer nights.

The Nevada State Fair returns to Mill Park in Carson City from June 6-9 featuring four days of entertainment, exciting carnival rides, food, music and much more.

Brass Ring Amusements Midway of Fun will offer dozens of rides for kids of all ages, games, tasty food and concession stands located around the green belt.

All Day Ride passes cost $30 at the door. The Nevada State Fair is currently holding a Discounted All Day Ride Pass which features a 33 percent deduction for just $20.

Mills Park is located at 1111 E. William St. in Carson City. Ride hours throughout the four-day extravaganza are listed below:

For the safety of interested attendees, each ride during the fair requires a certain height. Kids who do not reach the minimum height requirements listed below will not be able to go on the ride.

The Carson City Fair returns to Fuji Park on July 26-28 full of jam-packed action, competitions and prizes.

Simerson and Simerson Events LLC will host the inaugural Carson City Demolition Derby through the Friday, July 26 and Saturday, July 27 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

The Friday event will feature Simerson Construction employees, where 12 to 18 cars bash and crash into each other until one is chosen as the victor.

Another derby will be open to the public. This particular rumble will allow 18-24 cars, which must follow the rules and regulations here. A cash prize will be given to the winner of each derby.

On Saturday, the Survivor Class returns up to 28 cars that made it through the Friday battle. A grand prize of up to $2,000 will given to the first place participant.

A women-only Minivan Mayhem Class will also take place on Saturday, featuring up to eight minivans. One vehicle will be raffled off during the Simerson Class on Friday and both events on Saturday.
Each driver must submit a completed entry form with a non-refundable entry fee of $100 per vehicle. Each driver must have a valid driver’s license and be at least 18 years of age. All pit passes to watch the derby are $20.

The Carson City Fair will also showcase the Annual Sidewalk Chalk Competition through July 27-28. Kids of all ages are encouraged to display their artistic talents and impress judges with an array of colors and patterns of all shapes and sizes.

The Kids Competition, ages 2-12, will take place on July 27. The Youth & Adult Competition, ages 13 or older, follows on July 28. Registration for the event begins at 8:00 a.m. each day.

Basic sidewalk chalk with limited colors will be provided, interested participants are allowed to bring their own. Artwork must be drawn onsite and judged by presentation, creativity, impact and mood.

Entries will be judged each day at 1:00 p.m. There will be a first place prize for winners of each competition.

Along with various chalk artworks, The Carson City Annual Supplement Block competition takes place from July 25-29. The competition is split into two categories, cattle carved and human enhanced.

Entries must be submitted between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 25 in the Fuji Park Exhibit Hall. Entries will be released on Sunday, July 28. Entries not picked up by Monday, July 29 at 11:00 a.m. will be disposed of.

Green Our Planet will host the second annual Northern Nevada Giant Student Farmers Market on Wednesday, May 15 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Fuji Park on The Park Grass in Carson City. The Northern Nevada Giant Student Farmers Market will feature approximately 10 schools throughout the northern part of the Silver State.

Miller Counseling and Wellness Center began partnering with Douglas Center for Hope and Healing to offer grief support groups for adults in Carson City in 2024. There has been an amazing turnout, and the group appears to be filling a much-needed void in services to our community.
