CARSON CITY — The Carson Farmers Market will kick off the 2019 season this Saturday, June 1 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot at 3rd and Curry streets. The Farmers Market will run until Saturday, Sept. 28.

Enjoy fresh-picked produce, local meats, fresh flowers, artisan baked goods, jams, honey, crafts, live music and Carson City’s smiling faces.

Thursday Hike to Centennial Park on the Wild Horse Trail hosted by Muscle Powered

Join us on our free leader-led hikes each week to enjoy Nevada outdoors! We have moved the Spooner Lake Hike on Thursday, May 30, 3:00 pm to the Wild Horse Trail, in Carson City.

The conditions at Spooner Lake this week will be cold and wet so we are moving Thursday's hike "down to the valley" and will be hiking at Centennial Park on the Wild Horse Trail. This trail starts behind the ballfields at Centennial Park. Drive all the way to the back of ballfields on Heritage Way where the trail starts. Water and sturdy closed-toe shoes required. Hat, sunscreen and hiking poles recommended.

Day of Tribute and Honor: Events around Carson City area this Monday, Memorial Day

Heading into Memorial Day, May 27, 2019, we urge all to take time out of your day to honor those who served and died defending our country. Memorial Day is the day we celebrate those men and women who passed while serving in the United States Armed Forces. There are events Monday in Carson City at the Stewart Indian School Cemetery and at Lone Mountain Cemetery and in Fernley at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Wungnema House at Mills Park in Carson City open to the public on Sunday

Stop by the east side of Mills Park on Sunday for the Parks Foundation’s monthly open house at the Wungnema House, from 2:00pm to 5:00pm.

The Wungnema House is the charming stone cottage located on the east side of Mills Park across from Carson High. It was built by a family of skilled Hopi stonemasons shortly after WWII and served as the family’s home until the early 1970s. There is no admission fee, and all are welcome.

Military veterans and seniors to take flight in WWII biplane: Public invited to attend and watch Dream Flights

Pre-selected military veterans and seniors will enjoy the thrill of a Dream Flight in a 1944 Stearman biplane, the same aircraft used to train military aviators during World War II. The flights are courtesy of Ageless Aviation Dreams Foundation (AADF), a Carson City-based nonprofit that honors U.S. military veterans nationwide with free Dream Flights. AADF has given more than 3,700 Dream Flights nationwide since 2011.

Carson City resident to begin Peace Corps service in Moldova

Some folks swear this happens every Spring, storm after relentless storm through the entire month of May.
