On Wednesday, Lyon County announced a Boil Water notice to 34 residences on Grosh Avenue in Dayton following a broken water main that potentially stood to contaminate water systems for residents.

Following the announcement, the main was isolated and shut down, and those affected were without water.

A precautionary Boil Water Order Notice had been issued to those residents affected by the break. Crews anticipated the main would be repaired by noon Wednesday.

In wake of the recent studies conducted by Desert Research Institute and UC Davis finding microplastics in Lake Tahoe, local 501(c)(3), "Clean up the Lake" in partnership with Tahoe Dive Center, have decided to speed up their announcement of their pre-existing plan to do a 72-mile underwater-scuba trash clean up of the entire shoreline of Lake Tahoe in Nevada and California.

The Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation on Thursday announced the appointment of two administrative positions for divisions in Carson City and Las Vegas.

Ms. Kimberly Gaa has been appointed as administrator for the agency’s Employment Security Division in Carson City and Dr. Marilyn Delmont has been appointed as administrator of the Information Development and Processing Division in Las Vegas.

Lyon County Commissioner Greg Hunewill died Monday, August 19, at Carson Tahoe Hospital, Lyon County Manager Jeff Page said Tuesday. Hunewill, 61, had been suffering with health issues since January, said Page.

Carson City Assessor’s Office is pleased to announce the implementation of a new Property Tax and Computer Aided Mass Appraisal system.

The CAMA system will automate the appraisal and assessment administration functions, allowing for accurate valuation and complete parcel maintenance, and assessment. The system features a responsive design with an adjustable user interface suitable for all devices, effortless navigation, and data export.

Heading into Tuesday Aug. 6, which means the safest family celebration of the year at the 17th annual Carson City National Night Out. National Night Out, one of Carson City’s largest summer celebrations, is returning Tuesday, Aug. 6 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Mills Park for its 17th year. And by all indications, it will be the biggest yet.

National Night Out is a way for residents to meet those who serve and protect our community as well as agencies that provide services, especially in areas of public health and safety.
