Today’s events include an organized walk along Carson City's historic east side, coffee and talk with a supervisor, art showings, a lecture, live standup comedy with Howie Nave at the Carson Comedy Club and plenty of music.

— Daily through September, Muscle Powered is holding a membership drive to recruit new members. All new and renewing members in the month of September will be entered in a drawing to win a Gregory Hiking Day Pack.
Muscle Powered works to make Carson City healthier for all citizens and safer and more accessible for bicycling and walking through education and advocacy, the promotion of bicycle and pedestrian friendly infrastructure, and developing and maintaining recreational trails throughout the city. Muscle Powered is also responsible for organized weekly walks, hikes and bike rides, on and off road, throughout Carson City. Go here to learn more and sign up.
— Carson City Supervisor Brad Bonkowski hosts Breakfast with Brad, from 7 to 8 a.m. at the Cracker Box restaurant. Bonkowski encourages any resident with ideas, questions or concerns about city issues to join him for coffee and conversation. The Cracker Box is located at 402 E. William Street in Carson City. No purchase is necessary and the coffee is on Brad.
— Friday Morning Walk to Eastside Historical Tour hosted by Muscle Powered, 8 a.m. Join in for a weekly one hour walks to enjoy Nevada outdoors around Carson City. Meet in front of the Capitol Building for a tour of historic sites east of Carson Street. Water and closed-toe shoes required.
— Nevada Arts Council Presents: Mountain Picassos: Basque Arborglyphs of the Great Basin, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, OXS Gallery, 716 N. Carson St. Ste. A, Carson City. Basque tree carvings, or arborglyphs, have long been of interest to historians, Basque scholars, foresters and hikers. Carved by Basque sheepherders tending their flocks across the Great Basin, the carvings are at the crossroads where art, culture and nature come together.
The exhibit is based on the book of the same name by Reno’s Jean and Phillip Earl. The exhibit debuted July 30 and will remain in place through Sept. 7.
— The Capital City Arts Initiative, also known as CCAI, presents its exhibition, "Jenny Raven: The Creative Growth Years 1979 - 1984" with artwork by artist Jenny Raven in the city’s Community Center Sierra Room, 851 E William Street, Carson City. The exhibition is available to the public through October 18, 2018. The Sierra Room is open from 8 am - 5pm.
— Visual Oasis: Works from Creative Growth, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Capital City Arts Initiative presents “Visual Oasis: Works from Creative Growth" at the CCAI Courthouse Gallery in Carson City. The exhibition, with art by 17 artists, will be in the gallery Monday through Friday until Sept. 27, 2018. The Courthouse is located at 885 E Musser Street, Carson City. The gallery is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
— Honor A Vet: Tech Sgt. Rob Webster to celebrate retirement after 26 years of military service, 6 p.m., Battleborn Social, 318 N Carson St, Carson City. Go here for more information.
— Northern Nevada lecturer Mike Thomas will resume his history and science lectures at Jack C. Davis Observatory this week. Thomas is planning to lecture about “Bad History” on Friday, Sept. 7, beginning at 7 p.m. Jack C. Davis Observatory is located at 2699 Van Patten Drive in Carson City.
— Live Standup Comedy with Howie Nave at the Carson Comedy Club. Many around South Lake Tahoe know Howie from his number one morning drive radio show "Howie's Morning Rush" on KRLT-FM (krltfm.com) and from his years of comedy on the South Shore. He has long been a staple in the world of stand up. How long? There's a plaque with his name on it near the entrance of South Lake Tahoe that's he's called home now for almost 18 years.
The shows at the Carson Comedy Club are Sept. 7-8. Doors open at 7:15 p.m. each night with showtime at 8 p.m. Tickets can are available here: https://www.brownpapertickets.com/producer/373092.
— Dance with Live Music at the Carson City Senior Center. Kick up your dancing shoes and enjoy the live music of Dan & Nadine at the Carson City Senior Center, 911 Beverly Drive. The fun begins 5:45 p.m.
— Live Music at Glen Eagle Restaurant, starting at around 6:30 p.m. Enjoy food specials, full-service bar, beautiful vistas and friendly service. 3700 N. Carson St., Carson City.
— Bluegrass, roots rock and folk with Suspect Terrane, hosted by Bella Vita Bistro, will be on stage from 6 to 10 p.m. Bella Vita Bistro is located at 1304 South Stewart Street.
— Rock out Friday night with Deception, live at Living the Good Life Nightclub, Bistro and Lounge. The show is from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Formed by key members of Bad Intent, Deception is a power trio that slays covers. Living the Good Life is at 1480 North Carson Street.
