Celebrity golf, train rides and more: Events around the Carson City region for Sunday, July 14
Happy Sunday Carson City! There’s a slew of events around the Carson City region to help get back into the work week. Don’t miss the third and final round of the American Century Championship at Edgewood Tahoe. In Carson City, Muscle Powered hosts its Sunday morning bike ride at Fremont Elementary School.
Vintage steam train rides in Virginia City run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sierra Chef will hold a grigliate pizza class for interested participants. The final show for Always Patsy Cline in Minden is from 2 to 4 p.m. A follow up performance by The Senior Follies at the Carson City Community Center keep the events coming with much more in store!

Here’s what’s happening on Sunday:
— Muscle Powered Sunday Bicycle Ride. 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Fremont Elementary School, 1511 Firebox Rd. Come join Muscle Powered for a free, guided group walk, hike, or ride to enjoy Nevada outdoors around Carson City! Muscle Powered is a local non-profit organization that promotes walking, hiking, biking and trail building. A schedule of all upcoming activities and events can be found at the Muscle Powered website.
— Canyon White at Canvas Cafe. 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Canyon White is at The Canvas Cafe every Sunday 9 a.m. to Noon so come on up and start your day right with some yummy breakfast and Canyon White!
— Flying Pig Indoor Flea Market at Fuji Park. 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Fuji Park Exhibit Hall, 601 Old Clear Creek Rd. Come on down to the big building at Fuji Park on July 13-14 and meet some great vendors selling antiques, arts, crafts, jewelry and so much more. Always a fun time at the market. Open Saturday From 8-4 and Sunday, 9-4. Located on Old Clear Creek Rd in Carson City. Admission is $1 for adults and kids under 18 free. — Train to Virginia City from Carson City. Event takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 4650 Eastgate Siding Road. Prices for the ride range from $25-$55. Rediscover Nevada’s rich history in mining and mill on the V&T Carson City-Virginia City route as you meander through tunnels, canyons and mining towns aboard a restored 1914 Pullman coach led by a 1916 Baldwin 2-8-0 steam locomotive. This relaxing all-day train excursion is fully narrated with historical facts and anecdotes. Departing from Carson City’s Eastgate Depot, the 24-mile round-trip tour includes a fun 3.5-hour stopover in historic Virginia City, where you can stroll the boardwalks and explore restaurants, shops, saloons, museums, mines and more. — Park History Walk at Mormon Station Park. 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. There’s far more to Mormon Station than meets the eye! Join Park Ranger fora “behind the scenes” guided tour of the grounds of Mormon Station State Historic Park, and learn about the fascinating history of this four-acre parcel of land. Participants will also tour park structures that are normally closed to the public.
— Grigliate Pizza on the Patio at Sierra Chef. 1 to 3 p.m. at 2292 Main Street Suites 3 and 4. — Always Patsy Cline show in Minden. 2 to 4 p.m. at the CVIC Hall, 1602 Esmeralda Ave. Always… Patsy Cline is based on the true story of Patsy Cline’s friendship with Louise Seger; her number one fan. Louise narrates the story of how she met Patsy and the friendship that continued throughout Patsy’s short-lived life and career. The show is filled with everyone’s favorite songs sung by Carson Valley’s own; the talented local singer-songwriter Krista Jenkins.
— Under the Big Top at the Carson City Community Center. 2 to 4:30 p.m. at 851 E. William Street. Tickets for Under the Big Top, the 2019 circus-themed, multi-generational production of the Senior Follies are now available for show dates July 12-14. Tickets are $10 each may be purchased at the Carson City Senior Center online or at the door an hour before the performance at the Bob Boldrick Theater, 851 E. William Street, Carson City. Show times are 7 p.m. on Friday, July 12, 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 13 and 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 14. Children aged four and under are admitted for free.
