Project Pink: Carson Tahoe hospital hosts May 12 breast health event
Carson Tahoe Health is encouraging women with a family history of breast cancer to be proactive about their breast health by attending the Cancer Center’s annual Project Pink event. A woman’s risk of breast cancer doubles if she has a close relative (mother, sister, or daughter) who has been diagnosed with the disease.
Women who are diagnosed with breast cancer face a series of questions and are often uncertain about how the diagnosis will affect their loved ones. Project Pink is a special event for women to speak openly with breast cancer experts about what the diagnosis means for their families, what they can do to protect their families, and whether genetic testing should be considered. Mothers, sisters, and daughters are encouraged to come together for an empowering discussion with Carson Tahoe physicians and specialists in areas of radiation oncology, medical oncology, breast imaging, lymphedema, genetics, nutrition, and personal training.
“Project Pink offers an opportunity for women in our community to be proactive about their breast health in an open, friendly, and supportive environment,” says Adriana McEntire, Oncology Patient Navigator and Project Pink Coordinator. “We are pleased to provide women, who have a family history of breast cancer, the latest information on their risk for developing the disease in the future.”
Project Pink will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center, located at 1535 Medical Parkway in North Carson City, from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. Admission is free but space is limited, and light hors d’oeuvres will be served. Reservations are required and can be secured by calling (775) 445-7500 by May 5, 2016. Come with questions and leave with empowerment, knowledge and hope.
