Carson City veteran portal now up and running; Welcome home Vietnam Veterans ceremony Saturday
Military veterans in Carson City can now access information on resources and services available to them using a central Internet-based hub.
Veterans and their families are encouraged to visit the Internet hub of the Carson City Veterans Community Council (CCVCC) through the Municipality of Carson City's web site at www.carson.org/veterans.
The webpage hub features a list of service providers with the names of contact persons and their telephone numbers, as well as an Internet portal to the web addresses of these resources using hyperlinks.
A veteran just needs to log onto www.carson.org/veterans and click on the service of his or her choice to then be linked directly to that provider's web site and get connected to the help they seek.
"The Carson City Veterans Community Council has...essentially created a one-stop shop for veterans throughout Carson City," said Holly Best, CCVCC co-chair and Employment Coordinator for the Works For Warriors program in Reno. "This webpage simplifies the search for resources for veterans, service members and their dependents."
Best stressed that the information on this newly launched webpage is only the beginning for the CCVCC and the veteran population it serves. "We will continue to grow our resources as support continues to come in," she said.
Veteran service and resource providers not currently listed can be added to the webpage by contacting Best or CCVCC Chair and Vietnam Veterans of American Chapter 388 President Frank Reynolds.
Also upcoming: The Carson Area Chapter 388 of the Vietnam Veterans of America cordially invites all Vietnam Veterans and the general public to the 2016 “Welcome Home” Vietnam Veterans Ceremony to be held at the Nevada Vietnam War Memorial this Saturday, 5 p.m. at Mills Park.
The half hour ceremony is intended to honor those who served during the Vietnam War and came home while remembering those Brothers and Sisters who served, but never made it home.
The Ceremony will be followed by a “No-Host” Reception from 5:30-8:30 at the Gold Dust Hotel and Casino located at 2171 E William St, Carson City, NV 89701.
