Dirk Roper honored for community service; donates 500 fans to Carson City Senior Center
CARSON CITY, Nev. – Dirk Roper, owner and chief executive officer of Roper’s Heating and Air Conditioning, was honored by the Carson City Board of Supervisors and the Carson City Senior Center for donating more than 500 new, in-the-box fans to Carson City seniors through the KOLO Cares Fan Drive.
This is the fifth year Roper has participated in the KOLO Cares Fan Drive, which shines a light on the need to help seniors stave off the summer heat. Excessive heat can be detrimental, and seniors are particularly vulnerable. This year alone, Roper donated 200 fans, and the Senior Center gave out a record 462 to area seniors through community donations.
“Mr. Roper's commitment to seniors, keeping them cool during the summer heat, merits celebration and recognition as a champion for the health and well-being of our senior population,” said Carson City Mayor Lori Bagwell. “Really, we have absolutely no choice but to help them stay healthy.”
Roper was awarded a glass plaque from the Senior Center and a certificate from the city.
“Anytime we needed help in the summer when we ran out of fans, Dirk’s motto is always just ‘call me and I'll do what I can,’” said Courtney Warner, executive director of the Senior Center. “You always delivered. Thank you so much for the partnership. We're looking forward to more years, but we can't thank you enough for the five years that you've committed to keeping our seniors safe this summer.”
The KOLO Cares Fan Drive runs from May through August each year. For more information on the Fan Drive, contact the Carson City Senior Center at (775) 883-0703.
For nearly 50 years, Roper's family businesses have been providing essential indoor climate management services to the citizens of western Nevada.
