Michael Hohl Chevrolet GMC in Carson City hosts 10th annual pet food drive in October
Throughout October, Michael Hohl Chevrolet GMC is partnering with Feeding Pets of the Homeless for their 10th annual pet food drive, aiming to Fill a Truck with donations of pet food for the pets of people experiencing homelessness and low-income families.
This event marks a decade of Michael Hohl Chevrolet GMC’s commitment to helping vulnerable pets in the community. This year, they will be joined by five other dealerships, expanding efforts to support vulnerable pets across the region.
Last year, the dealership collected 1,570 pounds of pet food, and this year, they hope to surpass that amount. All donations will be distributed by Feeding Pets of the Homeless to local organizations that assist those in need within the community.
“This annual event is vital to ensuring that pets of homeless individuals and low-income families receive the care and nutrition they need,” said Genevieve Frederick, founder and president of Feeding Pets of the Homeless. “With rising costs, the need has increased, making this initiative more important than ever.”
On Saturday, Oct. 12, Reno Corvettes Club will join the drive, arriving at 9:30 AM to fill the truck with pet food donations. Club members will load the food into their Corvettes before transferring it to the truck, aiming to overfill the truck bed. As part of the festivities, the Corvettes will be on display for a public Show N Shine Competition, running from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM. Visitors are invited to view the cars and bring additional pet food donations to help fill the truck.
"We’re proud to have hosted this event for ten years and to see how much the community has contributed. Every donation, no matter the size, makes a difference in the lives of these pets and their owners," said Dennis Bala, General Manager of Michael Hohl Chevrolet GMC.
The public is encouraged to participate by bringing pet food donations of any size to Michael Hohl Chevrolet GMC, located at 3700 S Carson St, Carson City between Oct. 1 and Oct. 31. All contributions will directly support Feeding Pets of the Homeless and their mission to feed and provide emergency veterinary care to pets in need.
