Scoups, classic cinema club team up for family-friendly events in Carson City
Scoups Ice Cream and Soup Bar has partnered this year with Carson City Classic Cinema Club to bring family-friendly fun to downtown Carson City, Scoups owners Geoffrey and Kimberly Landry said.
"We are dedicated to excellence, community and family," the Landrys said. "We hope to encourage words of kindness, and a positive attitude within our community. It is our enjoyment to bring family events to downtown Carson City."
Up first is the partnership's inaugural annual Easter Eggstravaganza on Bob McFadden Plaza, featuring support from The Fox Brewpub, Bella Fiore Wines, Storytime Photography and the Carson Victory Rollers.
Crafts, raffles, an Easter egg hunt, the Easter Bunny, and an evening movie are all featured at the event, scheduled for Thursday, March 29 at 223 W. Third Street on Bob McFadden Plaza.
The egg hunt and crafting activities run from 2 to 5 p.m., including photos with the Easter Bunny himself at Storytime Photography. The family movie, "Easter Parade," begins at 6:30 p.m. and concludes at about 7:45 p.m.
Cinema-goers are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs for the movie viewing. Preferred VIP seating is available on a first come, first served basis in Bella Fiore Wines outdoor dining area for $5.00 per person. That fee includes free popcorn. Money collected is donated by Bella Fiore Wines back to Carson City Classic Cinema.
Participants must be present to win raffle prizes, which will be selected at approximately 5:30 p.m. Easter hunt gifts will be given out while supplies last. Parents must be present with their children for the egg hunt. Event activities, includign the movie, are scheduled weather-permitting and may be canceled due to weather.
Carson City Classic Cinema Club is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing inspiration and opportunity to youth in our community, encouraging them to pursue arts studies. The club offers monthly classic film events, providing the public with a unique experience to see the films in a communal theater setting as they were intended to be seen.
Scoups Icream and Soup Bar is a family-run business that opened its doors in April 2017 on Bob McFadden Plaza. It offers quality casual dining with a unique menu of homemade soup and special ice cream flavors.
"We guarantee the highest level of satisfaction with a focus on positive customer service, a safe and fun environment, and great quality food," the Landrys said.
Watch for future events and movies coming to Bob McFadden Plaza this year, including The Princess Bride, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, The Sandlot, Monsters University, and more.
