Carson City man arrested for DUI after driving too fast in snow, causing crash Thursday evening
Just after 5 p.m. on Thursday evening, Carson City deputies were dispatched to the area of Fairview Drive and Butti Way on report of a crash involving an intoxicated subject.
When deputies arrived on scene, they made contact with a 40-year-old Carson City man who was driving the at fault vehicle.
Deputies determined that the man had been driving too fast while in the snow. He identified his vehicle as a White Ford F-250 which did not have current registration.
While speaking with the man, deputies noted they could smell an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person, and that he had slurred speech and watery eyes.
Deputies asked if the man would submit to a field sobriety test, and he agreed. He told deputies he had consumed two or three 12-ounce beers around noon, and that he’d eaten around 4:30 p.m.
The man gave six out of six clues of impairment. He complained of pain for several other tests, so deputies did not complete those tests.
The man agreed to perform a preliminary breath test, which resulted in a .274 BAC.
The man was taken into custody for DUI first, failure to maintain a travel lane, speeding too fast for conditions, driving with expired registration, and driving without a driver’s license in possession.
