64-year-old transient woman arrested in hectic encounter with Carson City deputies
A 64-year-old transient woman was arrested in the 300 block of N. Curry St. Tuesday afternoon for assault, battery and trespassing, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
In the report, CCSO deputies were dispatched to the building on report of a subject unwanted.
When they arrived, the property manager said there was a homeless individual sleeping in the stairwell of the building on the basement level.
When deputies went into the stairwell they came across two individuals, a man and a woman, who the deputy recognized from previous encounters.
Deputies told the pair they needed to leave the property. The woman responded with “we are homeless, where are we supposed to go,” and another deputy said “she did not care but they could not be camped out in the stairwell” according to the report.
The woman then told the man “drink up we are going to jail,” and the man began chugging from a bottle of Maker’s Mark whiskey.
Deputies ordered the man to put down the bottle and get out from under the stairs.
According to the report, the man continued to drink, so the deputy reached down and grabbed his ankles and slid him out from under the stairwell.
The woman came out from under the stairwell and began to scream at deputies, saying “Don’t touch him” and charged.
Deputies placed her in handcuffs. While they did so, the man stood up and “began to challenge (deputies) to a fight.”
The man started to walk up the staircase yelling that he was going to “beat (the deputy’s) ass,” but came up the staircase very slowly.
Deputies secured the handcuffs on the woman, at which point she fell to her knees and said “I need an ambulance, I can’t walk.”
The man told deputies that “if he had a gun he would shoot them in the f****** face.”
Once at ground level, the man also immediately fell to the ground and claimed he could not walk. While deputies were walking the woman to the car, she threatened the other responding deputy, attempted to spit at her and “blow snot” on her, according to the report.
Paramedics responded to the scene to perform a medical clearance. However, the man refused to answer any questions by paramedics, and so they determined he would need to go to the hospital for clearance.
When the paramedics said this, the man “smiled and gave out a little laugh,” according to the report.
At the hospital, the man was issued a citation for trespassing.
The woman was transported to the jail for assault, battery, and trespassing. Bail: $2,016
