Carson City residents might know Friends in Service Helping, or “FISH,” for their thrift stores and food bank, but a new project with big, long-terms goals, helping a higher level of client, is finally taking shape on Carson City’s main street. The FISH Student Housing Project — completion planned for Fall 2023.

Partnership Carson City is looking for volunteers to teach English as a Second Language. Can you speak, read, and write in English? Then you can teach English to one to three students. You can help your student use the textbook, stopping to explain or help with pronunciation.

During the recent power outages, the family of beloved Lamby went to stay in a hotel on New Years in Carson City, but Lamby mysteriously disappeared during this trip.

Careful, these two handsome brothers are bound to steal your heart, just like they’ve stolen our hearts at Catmandu. Just under two years old and bonded litter mates, they must be adopted together. Most cat lovers agree; two cats are better than one. Life-long best friends, they will keep each other playfully entertained.

The Dayton High School Boosters are calling for craft and food vendors to reserve their space for the Safe and Sober Grad Craft and Vendor Fair.

The Fair will take place March 4, 2023 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Dayton High School.

On the second and fourth Thursday each month through 2023, the Douglas County Community Center hosts "Toddler Time" from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The Carson City Moose Lodge in conjunction with The Blue Bull are hosting a Beer & Brats fundraising event. For just a $10 ticket, one can get a freshly grilled brat and two draft beers. A raffle will be held every half hour from noon to 3 p.m. Proceeds will support the Friends of Sutro Tunnel.

The annual 4-H Fabric Sale will be held on Feb. 4-5 at Fuji Park Exhibit Hall in Carson City. Doors open at 9 a.m. and will close at 4 p.m. on Saturday and noon on Sunday.

It's been raining and snowing a lot in western Nevada and while everyone can appreciate the value of water in the spring and summer, it's been a helluva ride.

In December 2018, I moved out to the Dayton Valley Road ranchos, a beautiful rural residential area that lies between the magnificent Pine Nut mountains to the south and the vibrant Carson River to the north.

All the snow has made for some exciting times since last week, but our team really stepped it up to care for the horses. One of our 2023 goals is to continue providing the best of care for our equine partners, despite the rising cost of food and care needs. All 23 families have officially been barred from entering their apartments at Carson Pines in Carson City after they learned the upper floors of the buildings were being condemned by the city.

Meet a very special kitty named Mojo. This handsome short-haired gray fella is friendly, affectionate and absolutely adores people. He will nuzzle your face while you pet him and beg for more rubs. Less than a year-old Mojo still likes to play but not with other cats. In fact, he would like to be your one and only kitty.

The Nevada State Museum, Carson City, and the Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada will host a Chinese New Year Celebration starting at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 21, the Lunar New Year.

Festivities begin in the Nevada State Museum, Carson City with crafts and traditional Chinese dances.

Happy New Year Carson City! Christmas may be over but Miss Kitty is still waiting for her Christmas miracle. This sweet old gal has suffered a lot of neglect and would like to live out her days in a home where she will be loved and cared for.

On behalf the Jimmy G’s Cigar Bar team we are excited to ring in the new year with everyone! We invite you to wear your best clothes that glow under the black lights. There is a DJ and dance floor so it will be loud, party will start around 8:00 p.m.and go until everyone is done partying. Must be 21+ to attend and ID is required and will be checked at the entrance.
