Carson City Humane Society's Pet of the Week: Sasha

Happy Wednesday, Carson City. It's going to be a beautiful day, and I know a way to make it even nicer: A brand new friend!

Carson City’s Pet of the Week is none other than Sasha, a 13-year-old Chow-Chow mixed breed.

Carson City Elks Lodge raises more than $9,000 for Night Off The Streets warming shelter

On Jan. 27 Carson City Elks Lodge No. 2177 hosted a fundraiser for Night Off The Streets, Inc. warming shelter. Ticket sales and all proceeds from the silent auction and raffle garnered $7,411 from this worthwhile event.

This was augmented by a Community Investment Program (CIP) grant from the State and National Elks Foundation of $1,548. A local Elk donated an additional $52 to round the grant up to an even $1,600 check as shown in the picture. Total raised was $9,011.

Carson City area donors raise $80K for FISH student housing project, match campaign extended

A student housing revitalization project through Friends in Service Helping, that is currently taking shape on North Carson Street in Carson City, is extending a contribution campaign after successfully collecting $80,000 in matched donations.

Happy February, Carson City! Our Pet of the Week is none other than Gidson, a sweet senior Shepherd mix.

This 10-year-old pooch has been in our shelter since late November and is not only a staff favorite, but a member of the Lonely Hearts Club too.

AAUW Monthly Meeting

NAMI is a nationwide program initially developed in Wisconsin in 1979. Its work includes advocacy, outreach, education, support, skills training, and stigma reduction for teens and adults.

Senior Spotlight: Carson High’s Skylar Crittendon Draws up Success

Skylar (Sophia) Crittendon is an amazing student at Carson High School. She is both academically and artistically gifted.

Skylar currently has a 4.2 GPA and has taken Honors, AP and Jump Start classes. As an artist, she enjoys drawing and painting using acrylics. Neo-realism is her favorite painting style, and she draws or paints every day.

Taboo loves people and thrives on attention. She is super affectionate and would gladly sit on your lap and be petted and kissed all day long. She also likes to assist at the computer and “help” me type. Taboo is currently Catmandu’s greeter and she is very good at her job.
