DCDW wins first place at Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center fundraiser
First Place was awarded to the Douglas County Democratic Women for their Christmas tree decorated in this year’s Gallery of Trees “Buttons ‘n’ Bows” theme.
The event is a fundraiser for the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center, which has several fundraising events during the year. Visitors to the museum “vote” for the tree they like best by placing donations in a container next to the tree. The museum awards a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prize to the three organizations collecting the most donations.
“We’re a 501c3 nonprofit,” said Brenda Hansen, of the Douglas County Historical Society. “It’s events like these that help keep our doors open.” The funds raised at the Gallery of Trees event are earmarked for youth programs.
