Carson City Sheriff's Office hosts 11th motorcycle competition

Along with the Motors Competition was the Legends of the West Bike and Car Fest. The duo of the events brought mass crowds of locals and even drew competitors from clear across the country.
TACH Presents Global Music and Dance

This Tony Award-winning musical tells the tale of Don Quixote, the mad knight who sets out on a noble journey to battle evil and win the heart of the Lady Dulcinea.
In addition to his usual responsibilities as music director for the musical,the school's own Dr. Mark D. Williams, plays the title role of “Don Quixote.” Audiences will be inspired by his performance of “The Impossible Dream.”

Friends of Library host Buy One Get One Free book sale June 16-21

The Reno-based tribute band known as "The Floyd" will launch a full array of stunning sight and sound glory in the capital city June 13-14.
The Floyd is well known throughout Northern Nevada for its uncanny musical stylings, spectacular laser light show and iconic Pink Floyd eye-popping videos.
'Greetings From Tintab' Reno Handbell Ensemble performs Saturday at Brewery Arts Center

Tintabulations will be performing “Greetings From Tintab” on Saturday, June 14, 11 a.m. in the blackbox theater of the Brewery Arts Center. Their concert weaves stories from the group’s past with modern bell literature.
Guided ghost tours begin Friday in Carson City
Submitted by editor on Wed, 06/11/2014 - 11:38amDebbie Bender and Tom Cruz of Bats in the Belfry Ghost Tours have been busy preparing their tour guides for the upcoming Carson City Haunted Experience and the “Spooks & Spirits” Pub Tour. The first tour is Friday, June 13.
Pre-run groups have been spotted walking about Carson City, learning the well-researched historical stories and legends. Debbie Bender and Tom Cruz are longtime ghost tour experts and serious paranormal investigators. They have been successfully doing ghost tours in Virginia City for many years.

Known for churning out the classics from the 1970s and 80's, Baker Street has developed a loyal Northern Nevada fan base, with its guitar-driven licks and crisp vocal stylings. There's no better way to celebrate summer than with music that rocks to it.
The Firkin Friday's outdoor concert is at 310 South Carson Street. There will be plenty of food, barbecue and drink specials going on inside.
Capital City Circles Initiative hosts jewelry and fine art fundraiser Saturday

Nevada Arts Council announces 2015 grant award recipients
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Tue, 06/03/2014 - 6:41amThe Nevada Arts Council announced its 2015 grant recipients for the year, with Carson City, Western Nevada and Lake Tahoe organizations getting a share of more than $600,000 in art program money.
NAC Arts Learning, Project and Partners in Excellence grants for fiscal year 2015 went to non-profit organizations and public institutions in 10 Nevada counties. Grants were awarded at the board meeting in May. Review panels convened in public meetings to evaluate the grant applications and recommend funding amounts for the board to consider.
Three-day Lit Fest kicks off Friday in Carson City

This year she asked herself, "Why not here?" meaning Carson City and a book celebration.
Mile High Jazz Band evening of big band, poetry with 'Hide and Seek'

The event will be on Tuesday, June 10, 7:30-9:30 p.m., at Comma Coffee, 312 S. Carson Street, across the street from the state legislature building in Carson City. Admission is $5 general and free for age 18 and under.

King St., Carson City. At 6:30 p.m., Clay and Cullen Mitchell will teach jitterbug, a 1940s-style swing dance and simplified version of Lindy hop. This is in preparation for the Silver Dollar Car Classic Sock Hop at the Carson Nugget on July 26. Social dance is 7:30-10 p.m. Partners are not required. Lesson $7 for HSSDC and any swing dance club members or $10 for nonmembers; dance $7 for members of swing clubs and $10 for nonmembers.
RSVP seeks local musicians and vendors for July 4 celebration

The highlight of the event will include a spectacular Independence Day pyrotechnic display at dusk.
Local musicians and bands are encouraged to apply to play in one of four openings scheduled for Saturday, July 5 and Sunday, July 6. All music genres are welcome but must be suitable for a family-friendly event and contain no offensive lyrics or stage show.
