Tickets on sale for May performances of 'Chicago'

Set in the Windy City during the ‘Roaring’ 1920's, the show follows the stories of two murderers, and entertains mightily with one explosive dance number after another
Starring are Kristin Charismas as Roxie, Robin Kato as Velma, Jeff Chamberlin as Billy Flynn, Cindy Sabatini as Mama Morton, Jeffrey Fast as Amos Hart and Christina Bourne as Mary Sunshine. More than 30 dancers complete the cast.

The evening includes an auction with wonderful big ticket items, including trips and dinner following the show with the band at Café at Adele’s and a “Chair-ity” silent auction to benefit the FFA at Carson High School, where The Greenhouse is located, beginning at 5 p.m. Seating opens at 5:30 p.m. and show begins at 6:30 p.m.
Gold Hill Hotel series features talks on Sinatra's Tahoe gaming license, Nevada film history

The Tuesday Night Lecture Series on the Sinatra's gaming license will be held April 15 with the film presentation on April 29. Programs begins with dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. with the lecture at 7:30 p.m. The cost is $20 for dinner and lecture and $5 for the lecture.

UNR history professor emeritus Davies pens book on history of boxing in Nevada
Submitted by editor on Tue, 04/08/2014 - 10:47amUniversity of Nevada, Reno distinguished History Professor Emeritus Richard O. “Dick” Davies offers a blow-by-blow account of boxing in the Silver State in his new book titled “The Main Event: Boxing in Nevada from the Mining Camps to the Las Vegas Strip.” The book is now available for purchase.
Davies was inspired to write his book after speaking with Matt Becker, senior acquisitions editor for the University of Nevada Press. He spent a few years researching Nevada’s history and culture of boxing and composed “The Main Event,” his newest chronicle of sports history.

The diners were served by more than 40 celebrity waiters, from singer Lacy J. Dalton to Congressman Mark Amodei. The waiters made their best efforts to earn extra tips, from telling jokes to singing songs.

The cast is comprised of more than 60 local youth ages 5 to 17, who play all the characters in this classic tale.

This photo was taken by Nicole Grant of Nicole Grant Photography and is of a barn near Wilson Commons Park in Washoe Valley. I am a local portrait photographer and I joined the club because I was looking for something to expand my horizon and push me to photography new scenes. The club meets the last Wednesday of every month at the Carson City Sheriff Office at 6:30PM.

Local celebrities will be waiting tables and competing for the most tips to raise money for the organization's operations.
Dinner tickets are $50, and reservations can be made for either the 5:00 p.m. or the 7:30 p.m. seating. Diners will get to chose from three entrees.

Lady Gaga, Eagles added to Lake Tahoe Summer Concert Series
Submitted by editor on Thu, 03/20/2014 - 10:23amLake Tahoe meets Lady Gaga this summer. The world undoubtedly will be watching when the pop star makes a Saturday night appearance Aug. 2 at the Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena at Harveys. Organizers announced the show today.
The Eagles will play two nights on Labor Day weekend, Friday and Saturday, Aug. 29-30. It will be the 42-year-old band’s first appearance at Lake Tahoe since 2005.
