Carson City Sheriff's Office hosts 11th motorcycle competition
The Carson City Sheriff’s Office hosted the eleventh annual Carson City Sheriff Motors Competition this previous Friday and Saturday right smack in the middle of Carson Street in Carson City. Along with the Motors Competition was the Legends of the West Bike and Car Fest. The duo of the events brought mass crowds of locals and even drew competitors from clear across the country.
There were a plentiful amount of bike enthusiast officers from the Carson City Sheriff Departments. Our local heroes were accompanied by other heroes from the Citrus Heights Sheriff Department, many from the San Francisco Sheriff's Department, several various other places, but one who traveled from a land far, far away.
His name is Don Solinger and he traveled clear across the country from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He has been dedicating his life to protect others as an officer for 14 years and competing in precision motor contests, like the one he competed in on Friday and Saturday, for thirteen years. I asked him what the best part about attending events like the Motors Competition is and with no hesitation he responded with, “It’s the comradery. Meeting guys and sharing stories that more times than none end up in lifelong friendships.”
The event was surely one for the books and there will be a similar event almost certainly next year. The official results of the time trials, relays and last man standing competition should be posted very soon on the Carson City Sheriff Motors Department Facebook page.
