Nevada Humane Society celebrates holidays with annual campaigns
There’s no place like home for the holidays, and Nevada Humane Society is asking for your help in finding homes for 1,200 dogs and cats during the Home 4 the Holidays Pet Adoption Drive going on now through Jan. 1.
“With millions of homeless pets across the country, it’s important everyone get involved to help save a life this holiday season,” explained Kimberly Wade, Senior Manager of Communications and Events for Nevada Humane Society. “Our team is specially trained and can help families choose just the right pet for their personalities and lifestyles. We’re proud of this campaign and we are dedicated to finding loving homes for the animals so they can experience a happy, new life.”
Adoption fees for Home 4 the Holidays are as follows: adult dogs $40, adult cats under the age of five $25, and adult cats over the age of five are free.
Kittens cost $60
to adopt during the campaign, while puppies run $200. Howver, a $100 rebate is offered with a certificate of completion for a puppy training class.
All dogs and cats are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped, services that normally cost over $240.
There are also a variety of small animals available for adoption, including rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, rats and more.
Home 4 the Holidays is a nationwide pet adoption drive which began in 1999. It was created to move animals out of shelters and into good homes during a season of giving and love.
Since its inception, over 12 million pets have gone home. This year, the Nevada Humane Society joins over 4,000 organizations that are coming together to find homes for homeless pets.
Also happening now through Jan. 1 is the 10th annual Lights of Love fundraiser, during which people can honor or remember their pets with a $10 donation to the Nevada Humane Society. A tribute certificate will be made for each donation, and makes a great holiday gift.
The Nevada Humane Society is open for adoptions seven days a week at two locations (except for Thanksgiving and Christmas) from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and an hour earlier at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
