The Carson City Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Team arrested five people Thursday in two separate traffic stops that led to the recovery of drugs.

Join Muscle Powered and our Parks and Recreation Department at the Silver Saddle Ranch for a presentation and trash mob. Kids will love the Carnival at Bordewich Elementary School, and it helps raise funds for a local Cub Scout Pack. Mark Twain Elementary is hosting their annual Color Run at Mills Park, just make sure to wear a white shirt.

Camping season is upon us, and the weather is getting nice. It's that time of year when people like to get out and have a good time in the great outdoors camping, four-wheeling, hiking etc. It's fun to enjoy our open spaces.
Just remember, it's important to be responsible while we're all living it up outside.

While the heavy rain weather forecasters anticipated over the weekend failed to arrive, windy conditions did and will arrive again Tuesday ahead of a storm system that extends into Wednesday and Thursday that may bring some light rain and possible snow showers to the Carson City and Sierra regions.

The U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit will soon begin the process of opening recreational facilities in the Lake Tahoe Basin. Weather and snow conditions permitting, Inspiration Point will be the first site to open on Saturday, April 14.

The Board of Supervisors on Thursday decided on the basic requirements for Carson City's next waste management services contract.

Earth Day at Lake Tahoe has a special meaning. Working together through the Lake Tahoe Environmental Improvement Program, more than 50 local, state, federal, nonprofit, and private sector partners are implementing projects and programs to conserve the Tahoe Basin’s environment and fix past environmental harms.

A 29-year-old transient man was arrested Wednesday at 5:37 a.m. in the 300 block of South Carson Street for felony possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy said.

A 63-year-old and a 58-year-old transient woman were arrested Saturday at 5:52 a.m. in the 3100 block of S. Carson Street for misdemeanor disorderly conduct, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy said.

Okay. This is one of the hardest weekend lists I’ve ever had to do. This dump of snow has cancelled some events, but others are in full force. Best I can tell, St. Patrick’s Day parties are not deterred by a little snowfall. There will be no parade in Virginia City, but the Rocky Mountain Oyster Fest is on. Head to downtown Carson for more green beer, Irish music, and corned beef and cabbage than you’ll know what to do with.

A 21-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday for suspicion of felony kidnapping, burglary and misdemeanor domestic battery, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.

We will be clearing the Fulstone Wetlands the Multi-Use Path north from the Boys & Girls Club and (hopefully) the NDOT Right of Way between the fence and the sound wall. If you have rubber boots and want to focus on the wetlands please bring them.

Having raised millions to fund nearly 150 conservation projects in the Tahoe Basin, this month marks the 20th anniversary of the Lake Tahoe License Plate program offered through the Nevada Division of State Lands.

There is absolutely a little bit of everything this weekend. The Pine Nut Mountains Trail Association is pleased to announced that it is a grant recipient from the 2018 Nevada Off–Highway Vehicle Registration Program for use in supporting numerous clean up events.

The current solid waste management contract for trash and recycle collection services, will be expiring in 2019. The City will be issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) in early summer of 2018 seeking competitive proposals for collection services.

The snow may fly around Carson City tonight into Thursday if the current forecast holds up. The National Weather Service has issued both a Winter Weather Advisory and Wind Advisory for much of the region.

The local nonprofit Muscle Powered is known in the community as an organization that promotes walking and biking as healthy, green transportation alternatives. According to their website, Muscle Powered's motto is "Walk, Bike, Build," and along with building comes maintenance.

CARSON CITY — After a decades long push and the passage of Senate Bill 540, a new Firefighter's Memorial will be built on the capital grounds in Carson City.

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting a significant increase of positive flu cases in the region. Overall, Carson City, Douglas and Lyon counties have experienced many more cases of influenza this year than the same time last year.

In cooperation with Capital Sanitation and Waste Management, Christmas trees can be placed curbside in Carson City on regular trash collection days or taken to a drop off location. Trees will be chipped in the springtime and used as mulch.

Evidence of a marijuana growing operation was found Friday night in the bedroom of a minor inside a Longview Drive residence, a report from the Carson City Sheriff's Office said.

While the holiday season doesn’t come to an end until the new year, Carson City offers its annual Christmas tree recycling program for those preparing to scrap the family tree until next year.
