Two men died and another person was injured after a single vehicle rollover crash Saturday on Highway 50 three miles south of Silver Springs, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Reminder: Studded snow tires need to be removed by Thursday

The Nevada Department of Transportation and the Nevada Highway Patrol are reminding motorists that studded snow tires need to be removed by Thursday, April 30.
By Nevada law, studded snow tires are only permitted in use between Oct. 1 and April 30. Retractable studded snow tires are allowed throughout the year with tire studs retracted from May 1 through Sept. 30.

42 cited in Carson City crosswalk safety operation

Crosswalk safety operations on three busy Carson City streets commenced Tuesday with 42 citations issued to motorists, said Carson City Sheriff’s Sgt. Scott McDaniel. Of those, 23 were issued for failing to stop for a pedestrian in a crosswalk and the others were for various violations including cell phone use, speeding and seatbelt use.

Carson City man dies in early Saturday crash on Carson Street

A Carson City man died early Saturday morning in a single-vehicle crash into a pole. Matthew Vanclieve Arnold, 40, died of injuries after being flown by Care Flight following the crash at the intersection of Carson Street and Koontz Lane, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Kevin Mcintire of Dayton dies from injuries in Saturday motorcycle crash on Geiger Grade

A Dayton man involved in a motorcycle crash Saturday on State Route 341, Geiger Grade, near Virginia City has died, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol. Kevin Mcintire, 62, of Dayton died Thursday after being treated for injuries sustained in the crash.

Carson City fire and rescue respond to injury accident at Highway 50 East and Airport Road

UPDATE: Carson City fire and rescue and Care Flight responded to a traffic accident with injuries this afternoon at the intersection of Highway 50 East and Airport Road.
The accident was a rear-end type collision involving a blue Toyota and a white truck. The accident was reported at 2:39 p.m. At least two people were injured, one being an adult male, 44.

Emergency crews called to single vehicle accident on Carson City freeway

Carson City emergency crews responded to a single vehicle accident on the Carson City freeway this afternoon. The accident involved a single vehicle that crashed into the wall near the Arrowhead onramp of the Carson City I-580 freeway. It was reported shortly before 2:30 p.m. The accident is in the southbound lane and traffic is being diverted.

Emergency were initially called to a second accident on the freeway but it turned out the accident was the same accident as the one on Arrowhead.

The Nevada Highway Patrol also responded to the scene.

NHP: Fallon murder suspect dies of self-inflicted gunshot

UPDATE: 630PM: Channel 2 News has confirmed that the suspect in a Fallon murder that happened this afternoon, is dead. Nevada Highway Patrol tells Channel 2 that Larry Small died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after attempting to flee from troopers in Humboldt County.

NHP: Geiger Grade closed after two motorcycles crash near Virginia City

UPDATE: The Nevada Highway Patrol says State Route 341, Geiger Grade, has been reopened.

The Nevada Highway Patrol closed Geiger Grade State Route 341 near Virginia City on Saturday following a motorcycle crash that has left two people seriously injured. Care Flight has flown one person to the hospital and another was taken by ambulance, according to a Nevada Highway Patrol trooper.

Dispatch reports the two motorcycles collided. NHP says the road is closed at mile marker 71 on State Route 341 with the major accident investigative team responding to the scene.

Emergency crews respond to accident in westbound lane Highway 50 East

UPDATE 10:46AM: NHP Trooper Karen Garretson reports the following: A White Ford Explorer was traveling westbound Highway 50 with reports that it was driving recklessly.
The Ford Explorer struck three mile marker posts on the right shoulder before striking an unoccupied truck and trailer combo that was parked on the side of the road.
The impact pushed the truck and trailer into the travel lane. The driver of the Ford Explorer has non-life threatening injuries and was taken by ambulance to Carson Tahoe Hospital. Controlled substances may be a factor in the crash.

Emergency crews respond to accidents at Highway 50 and Airport, Arrowhead near Goni

Carson City emergency crews were called to two vehicle accidents Wednesday morning before 8 a.m. The first one was reported at 7:48 a.m. on Arrowhead west of Goni. First responders with the Carson City Sheriff's Office report airbag deployment and a woman injured. The second accident is at Highway 50 and Airport Road, reported as an injury accident to the Nevada Highway Patrol at 7:52 a.m. Expect traffic delays.

Carson City fire and rescue respond to accidents in front of Legislative building, Highway 50

A minor fender-bender accident happened early this evening in front of the Nevada Legislative Building at Fourth and Carson Street, briefly delaying traffic. An ambulance was called after a person in one of the vehicles asked to be checked out. The accident happened after 5:30 p.m.
Meanwhile, a second accident happened just after 6 p.m. involving a single-vehicle into a pole at Highway 50 and Airport Road. Carson City Sheriff's Office and the Nevada Highway Patrol were called to investigate. No injuries were reported.

UPDATE: One person was taken to the hospital following the accident Friday just before 5 p.m. on Highway 50 at Spooner. Their condition is unknown at this time.

Westbound traffic on Highway 50 on Spooner will be delayed as Carson City fire and ambulance respond to a vehicle rollover. The injury accident was reported at 4:50 p.m., with initial reports of a VW that had flipped with a victim possibly trapped in the vehicle.

NHP: Silver Springs woman dies in head-on crash south of Fernley

A 19-year-old Silver Springs woman died in a head-on crash Sunday on Highway 50A south of Fernley, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol. Three others were also injured.

NHP confirms Isis Aline Fetty died after a Saturn Sedan crossed over the center line and struck the Mercedes she was driving. The accident happened around noon Sunday, near Lyon County mile marker 11 approximately 1 mile south of the Fernley High School.

Teen hit at Carson City crosswalk recovering at Reno hospital, crash under investigation

A 17-year-old Carson City teen suffered non-life threatening injuries and is recovering at Renown Medical Center in Reno following a pedestrian accident Saturday night at the intersection crosswalk of Highway 50 and Lompa Lane. The accident is under investigation and alcohol may be a factor, a Nevada Highway Patrol trooper said Sunday.

UPDATE 11:30PM: A 17-year-old teenage male was flown to Renown Medical Center in Reno late Saturday night after being struck by a vehicle at the intersection crosswalk of Lompa Lane and Highway 50, a Carson City Sheriff's Office sergeant said.
As of 11:30 p.m., one travel lane was open on Highway 50 for through-traffic as Nevada Highway Patrol troopers determine the cause of the accident, said Sgt. Scott McDaniel.

UNR police to conduct active assailant exercise Thursday

The University of Nevada, Reno Police Services is planning a full-scale active assailant exercise from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, March 19.

The exercise will include agencies from across the region to test the Regional Active Assailant Response Protocol as well as the University’s Active Assailant Plan. With numerous community and regional partners participating, this drill will be the largest in the University’s history.

Six people were injured in a weather related head-on crash Saturday morning on Highway 50 near Zephyr Cove, a Nevada Highway Patrol trooper said. One woman remains in serious condition.

The accident was reported at 8:48 a.m. and involved a Toyota Camry, occupied by five people, three males and two females, and a Volvo, driven by a Carson City resident.

Two flown by Care Flight in accident on Highway 50 in Dayton

Two people were flown by Care Flight to Renown Medical Center in Reno following an accident tonight on Highway 50 near Second Avenue in Dayton, according to Nevada Highway Patrol dispatch.

The accident was reported at 5:34 p.m. The two flown by Care Flight have non-life threatening injuries, according to NHP dispatch.

Traffic delays were experienced around the accident scene. NHP and Lyon County re-directed traffic. Officers have cleared the scene as of 7:40 p.m., according to dispatch.

Early morning vehicle pursuit from Carson City to Reno called off for safety reasons

UPDATE: A motorist wanted for burglary in the Sparks area eluded Carson City sheriff's deputies early this morning in a vehicle pursuit that began around College Parkway but was terminated for safety reasons once the vehicle was in Reno, said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.

Two cases involving stolen, forged credit cards results in three arrests

Three Sacramento area women were arrested Saturday in two separate cases involving stolen credit cards, fraud and forgery. Carson City Sheriff’s Office investigators are trying to determine if the cases are related, said Lt. Brian Humphrey.

In the first arrest, officers recovered stolen credit cards, equipment to make credit cards, as well as stolen checks from victims in Douglas County and Sacramento, according to the arrest report.

Two motorcycles collide on Highway 50 East

UPDATE: Carson City fire and ambulance responded to a collision involving two motorcycles at the intersection of I-580 and William Street at Highway 50 East. The accident happened shortly before noon Saturday.
The accident was reportedly in the eastbound lane to get on to the freeway, according to dispatch. Traffic is stalled near the accident scene. At least one of the riders is injured and was taken by ground ambulance to the hospital.
Carson City sheriff's deputies are diverting traffic and Nevada Highway Patrol is responding.

Northbound Carson Street now open after crash at intersection of Silver Oak

UPDATED: Northbound Carson Street is now open following a crash tonight at the intersection of North Carson and Silver Oak that sent two to the hospital. The northbound lane was re-opened for travel at around 9 p.m., said Carson City Sheriff's Sgt. Scott McDaniel.
