Emergency crews respond to motorcycle crash at South Carson and Eagle Station

UPDATE: An adult male motorcycle rider was injured and has been flown by Care Flight following a crash Saturday afternoon involving an SUV at the intersection of South Carson Street and Eagle Station. A female passenger on the motorcycle did not sustain serious injuries from the crash, according to a Carson City sheriff's sergeant.

Carson City emergency crews were called this afternoon to the area of South Carson Street and Eagle Station for a a motorcycle crash involving a vehicle. The accident was reported at 2:13 p.m. after multiple 911 calls.

Carson City emergency crews called to crash on southbound I-580 near Highway 50

UPDATE: Carson City emergency crews are at the scene of a single-vehicle crash tonight in the southbound lane of I-580 just north of the Highway 50 onramp. The accident was reported at 6:37 p.m.
A motorist apparently hit the wall causing significant damage to the vehicle. The driver did not sustain significant injuries, according to a Carson City sheriff's sergeant.
The Nevada Highway Patrol was also responding. At least one lane of traffic is blocked.
Motorists are urged to move slowly through the southbound lane as it remained blocked as of 7 p.m.

Emergency crews sent to motorcycle crash at I-580 at Fairview and 2 other accidents

UPDATE TUESDAY NOON: Nevada Highway Patrol reports Tuesday the motorcycle rider who crashed his bike Monday evening near the ramp at I-580 and Fairview had non-life threatening injuries. NHP also reports there were no injuries on a single-vehicle Jeep accident that flipped in the area of Spooner Junction.

Carson Street open after suspicious package determined to be non-explosive

UPDATE 6PM: Carson Street has been re-opened between Second and Robinson streets as well as side streets which were closed after a package found this afternoon near the State Capitol Building was determined to be non-explosive, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

A Carson City Sheriff's deputy was killed in a shooting early Saturday morning during an exchange of gunfire on Montez Drive on the northeast side of Carson City. The suspect also died, said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.

The following is a statement by Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong:
At 2:18 a.m., Carson City Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the report of a domestic battery involving physical injury at the 4100 block of Montez Drive in East Carson City. As officers arrived at the scene, they reported physical injury to the female. Within minutes, the male suspect came out of the house and opened fire on the officers, killing one. Additional units arrived in the area and secured the residence, evacuating three children (ages 8-13) and one adult. The suspect was located dead at the scene.

The Carson City Sheriff’s has relinquished the investigation of this incident to the Reno Police Department.

Officer and family information is not being released at this time.

A Carson City Sheriff's deputy was critically injured during an exchange of gunfire on Mondtez Drive on the northeast side of Carson City Saturday morning at around 3 a.m.

The area has been cordoned off and the Carson City Sheriff crime lab unit, Nevada Highway Patrol and Douglas County Sheriff deputies are on the scene. More details to follow.

"I live in east Carson and was up at about 2:30AM this AM (Sat 8-15-15) and heard 10-15 shoots fired followed by multiple sirens over the next 45 minutes and also a helicopter flying north along what looked like the freeway & east on hwy 50."

Carson City City Sheriff's Office, NHP to hold crosswalk operation on Monday

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office and the Nevada Highway Patrol will hold a Joining Forces crosswalk operation Monday in the Carson City area. A second operation will be held on August 23.

Deputies dressed in bright orange clothing will cross streets utilizing marked crosswalks as well as traffic light controlled intersections where pedestrians cross.

A 50-year-old California man arrested Tuesday on suspicion of DUI was found to be in possession of a bag of assorted prescription pills in which he did not have a script, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

A rollover accident Tuesday night at Highway 395 and Washoe Road in Douglas County sent a Carson City family of four to the hospital, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Traffic open after sod truck flips on Highway 50 and I-580 northbound ramp

A semi-truck carrying a load of sod overturned after 7 a.m. this morning on the northbound onramp of Highway 50 and I-580 in Carson City that caused commuter delays.
The road is now open. The driver of the semi was treated for minor injuries. There was only one vehicle involved, said Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Duncan Dauber.

Highway 50 livestock fencing project begins

The Nevada Department of Transportation will enhance traffic safety with a new project that began Monday by installing livestock fencing on sections of Highway 50 in Silver Springs.

The project will fence approximately four and a half miles of U.S. 50 between Boyer Lane and Pinto Street and from Onyx Street to the U.S. 95 Alternate intersection in Silver Springs. The four-strand, smooth wire fencing will stand four feet high to help prevent wild horses and cattle from entering the highway.

2015 National Night Out Carson City returns Tuesday to Mills Park

With the theme of violence prevention, Carson City Sheriff’s Office will host 13 years of community partnership with local agencies, groups and nonprofit organizations Tuesday at Mills Park with the 2015 National Night Out.

Returning this year after a last minute cancelation in 2014 because of heavy rain, this three hour annual family event is designed to bring children and their parents to the park for activities, music, information booths, demonstrations, hot dogs and refreshments. Festivities begin at 5 p.m.

NHP Still Searching for Suspect Vehicle in US395 Cold Springs Fatal Motorcycle Hit and Run

The Nevada Highway Patrol continues to search for a vehicle and suspect involved in a possible hit and run, fatal crash that happened on July 11, 2015 at approximately 12:06 pm. The investigation details that a black 2007 KTM sport bike ridden by 51 year old Stephen L. Hobbs of Reno, was traveling northbound on US 395. Witnesses indicate a silver Subaru WRX also traveling northbound, struck the sport bike causing it to overturn and eject Mr. Hobbs, who later died because of his injuries.

Vehicle crashes in Carson City up 20 percent, driver inattention largely to blame

Driver inattentiveness, speeding and cell phone use are factors for around 20 percent more vehicle crashes along Carson City area roads this year compared to the first seven months of 2014, a Carson City Sheriff’s Office sergeant said this week.

Not counting those crashes investigated by the Nevada Highway Patrol, there’s been 250-plus crashes from January to July of this year. During the first seven months of 2014, there were 200 crashes, said Carson City Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Scott McDaniel.

Emergency crews called to vehicle crash at Highway 50 near Flint Road

Carson City fire and ambulance, sheriff's deputies and the Nevada Highway Patrol were called this afternoon to a vehicle injury accident on Highway 50 near Flint Road.
The single-vehicle accident involving a Dodge Charger was called into NHP at 1:21 p.m. Dispatch reports it is in the westbound lane. One person was injured.
Traffic is being re-directed around the accident scene.

Carson City sheriffs log: Man jailed for child neglect, allegedly leaves son on interstate

A 39-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday in the 1500 block of Monte Rosa Drive on suspicion of felony child neglect, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Carson Now is withholding the name of the suspect, who is the father of the victim, to protect the juvenile. The man was booked at 3:03 p.m. on $40,000 bail.

Zephyr Cove man dies in single vehicle crash Monday on Kingsbury Grade

A 93-year-old Lake Tahoe man died following a single vehicle accident Monday on Kingsbury Grade near Katherine Drive in Stateline, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Troopers from the Nevada Highway Patrol were dispatched the crash at 2:44 p.m. The preliminary collision investigation details indicate that a white 2008 Ford Ranger pickup driven by the elderly Zephyr Cove man was traveling westbound on Kingsbury Grade, State Route 20. For unknown reasons, the pickup drifted off the right side roadway edge through a dirt right of way area and struck a tree with the pickup’s front.

NHP identifies Reno man in fatal motorcycle crash; Subaru driver involved doesn't stop

A 51-year-old Reno man, Stephen L. Hobbs, man has been identified in the fatal motorcycle crash that happened Saturday on Highway 395 near Cold Springs. The driver of the car that hit the rider fled the scene, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Emergency crews called to crash in northbound lane of Carson City freeway

The Nevada Highway Patrol, Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called to a multi-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon on I-580 north of Carson City in the northbound lane at Lakeview.
The crash was reported to NHP at around 2 p.m. and no major injuries were reported but the northbound lane was moving extremely slow around the crash scene.

Douglas County Emergency Management is currently working on managing the current flooding in the Stephanie and Johnson Lane areas of Douglas County.

Five people were arrested Saturday, July 4 at a sobriety check point on Highway 50 in Douglas County at Spooner Summit, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

A 27-year-old South Lake Tahoe man was arrested Friday on a felony DUI charge after a single-vehicle rollover crash Friday that injured a passenger, a South Lake Tahoe police sergeant said. Extra patrolling and DUI checkpoints are happening this July 4 weekend throughout the Lake Tahoe Basin.

Motorcycle rider involved in fatal Carson City crosswalk crash jailed on felony DUI charge

A Minden man was arrested in the Veterans Day 2014 motorcycle crash that killed a Carson City casino employee as he was walking through a crosswalk on Stewart Street.

Michael F. Trute, 56, turned himself into Carson City Jail deputies Wednesday, 11:20 a.m. for a felony warrant, driving under the influence of alcohol causing substantial bodily harm, issued June 30, 2015 out of Carson City Justice Court. His bail was set at $10,000.

Carson City rescue respond to crash involving child on bicycle, wreck at Long and Carson

UPDATE: 3:15PM: The child involved in the bicycle accident at Carson Meadows and Como Street was taken to the hospital for evaluation, according to Carson City dispatch. Also, there were no injuries reported from the accident at Long and Carson Street.
