Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called Wednesday afternoon to two vehicle accidents, one in the 1400 block of East William Street near Carson High School and the other in the 4700 block of Highway 50 East.

A 57-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Friday morning near the 900 block of South Carson Street for misdemeanor warrants, a felony drug offense and providing false information to avoid prosecution, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.

A 45 year-old man was taken into custody Thursday evening at 5:53 p.m. at a business in the 900 block of South Carson Street after being found in possession of a controlled substance, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy said.

The 14th annual Holiday With a Hero campaign culminated Wednesday in Carson City at Walmart after months of fundraising. At least 240 homeless children from across the Carson City School District met with Santa Claus before being paired with first responder heroes for a Christmas shopping spree.

Throughout the day today, the administration at Carson High School has provided and will continue to provide, as needed this week, grief counseling and support for students and staff. As more is learned about a memorial service, we will pass that information along.”

Family members confirmed via social media Sunday that 16-year-old Carson High School student Timothy Jones, one of seven students involved in a Nov. 9 crash on Kings Canyon, has died.

UPDATE 2:26PM: Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called Saturday afternoon to an accident involving a motorcycle in the 1500 block of Airport Road.

The Nevada Highway Patrol will be Joining Forces looking for drivers and other occupants in vehicles who are not wearing their seatbelts and, or children who are not properly secured in car or booster seats. Highway 395 remains closed Tuesday at the Nevada-California state line as firefighters continue to battle the Chris Fire that began Monday west of U.S. Route 395, about five miles north of Sonora Junction near the Chris Flat Campground.

Hundreds of high school students and family members met Sunday night at McFadden Plaza in Carson City for a candlelight gathering to show support for seven teenagers who were injured in a single vehicle rollover accident Thursday night on Kings Canyon Road.
