NHP: Fatal motor vehicle crash on Highway 50 in Dayton

UPDATE 4:54PM: Both westbound lanes remain blocked, according to NHP. Traffic for both directions is being diverted into the eastbound lanes. Please use caution in the area. Unknown time for reopening.

UPDATE 2:55PM: One person died in a two-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon on Highway 50 at Retail in Dayton, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
A second person suffered serious injuries and was taken to the trauma ward at Renown Medical Center, said NHP Trooper Matt McLaughlin.
NHP troopers investigating said the deceased person is an adult and the injured person is also an adult. The crash involved a black Ford Expedition and a white Honda minivan. Names won't be released until family members have been notified, said McLaughlin.
The westbound lane is blocked and traffic is being diverted this afternoon. A crash investigation team is at the scene.
The crash was reported by NHP at 1:13 p.m. The cause is under investigation. We will have more information as it becomes available. Check back for updates.
