Ready to let the good times roll, rock around the clock, or twist again? The Silver Dollar Car Classic is throwing a party in the front parking lot of the Max Casino – plenty of hot rods, shiny chrome, and great music by Route 66 is in store. The 14th Annual Jazz and Beyond Music Festival opens tonight with a Garden Party at the historic Bliss Mansion across from the Governor’s Mansion. Bring a picnic and enjoy an art show, great live music and tours of the mansion.

Honor Flight Nevada is holding our fundraising golf tournament, hosted by The Club at Arrow Creek, August 27, 2017. Registration starts at 8:30 am and play begins at 10:00 am. Entry fee includes green fees, cart, shirt, raffle ticket, continental breakfast, lunch and lots of fun.

Farm animals, great exhibits, live entertainment, a carnival, and a bull-riding rodeo can be found at Fuji Park. Park your car at the Super Walmart on Topsy and you’ll be treated to a free shuttle. Go a little bit country at the Brewery Arts Center tonight; they are bringing back the Southern Drawl Band to the Minnesota Street Stage for this week’s free concert.

Mike Tice, offensive line coach for the Oakland Raiders football team brought his A-game to his 7th annual charity golf tournament weekend in June featuring the entire Raiders coaching staff, including head coach Jack Del Rio and a spate of former NFL players from around the country. The event doubled its take this year, including a match from Carson Valley Inn owner, Mike Pegram to over $300,000.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The 28th annual American Century Championship is in the books, and former Major League Baseball pitcher Mark Mulder won for the third straight year, the first three-peat at the celebrity golf tournament at Edgewood Tahoe.

Take it easy today, that’s what Sundays are for. An afternoon porch party at the historic Genoa Bar combines live music by Deception and slushy rum runners. Dutch oven cooking is a camp-time favorite, and the rangers at Mormon Station State Park will be giving a demonstration on how easy and delicious it can be. Open to kids of all ages, they will bike, run, and swim their way to the finish line. The third annual Sassabration event kicks off with a multi-colored, costume bike parade from the Brewery Arts Center to the celebration at Sassafras Eclectic Food Joint. Multiple bands, vendors, non-profit booths, free swimming at the Carson Hot Springs, not to mention the yummy food and drink available make this a not-to-be-missed festival.

Break a leg to our talented friends and neighbors participating in this year’s Senior Follies. ‘As Seen On TV’ marks the twentieth year the variety show has showcase local talent.

During the South Lake Tahoe City Council meeting Tuesday, City Manager Nancy Kerry said former President Bill Clinton may be arriving into town for the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament at Stateline this week.

The 28th annual American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course is launching a new app that will enable users to follow players live throughout this week, July 11-16.

The summer sun offers so many wonderful options: an early morning bike ride, a trip to Virginia City on the historic V and T railroad, or maybe a picnic and some live music in a park. All these and more are available today. Beat the heat with a trip to the movie theater – The Sandlot will take you back in time. The Chili Cook-off and Craft Fair continues at Glen Eagles. More residential building has occurred in the Nevada state capital during the last fiscal year than any other in more than a decade, the Carson City Community Development Report for July shows.

UPDATE 2:45PM: Both westbound lanes now open at Highway 50 Spooner from the valley side. The Spooner fire has been extinguished. The cause is under investigation.

UPDATE 1:50PM: As firefighters were being released from the fire on Spooner, Carson City fire department was called to a fully involved vehicle fire in the area of Golf Club Drive and Sierra Highlands on the valley side of Highway 50 and Spooner.

TUESDAY UPDATE: Jacks Valley Road was closed for around three hours from Highway 395 to Genoa Lane. It reopened at around 7:30 p.m. Monday. The cause of the 25-acre fire is under investigation.

UPDATE 6:12PM: Firefighters report the forward advance of the Foothill fire on Jacks Valley Road has been stopped but the winds are still creating problems. The size of the fire has been reduced to 25 acres, according to Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center.
