The Silver Dollar Car Classic is throwing a party in the front parking lot of the Max Casino – plenty of hot rods, shiny chrome, and great music by Route 66 is in store. The 14th Annual Jazz and Beyond Music Festival opens tonight with a Garden Party at the historic Bliss Mansion across from the Governor’s Mansion. Bring a picnic and enjoy an art show, great live music and tours of the mansion.

Honor Flight Nevada hosts annual Kilroy Klassic Golf Tournament

Honor Flight Nevada is holding our fundraising golf tournament, hosted by The Club at Arrow Creek, August 27, 2017. Registration starts at 8:30 am and play begins at 10:00 am. Entry fee includes green fees, cart, shirt, raffle ticket, continental breakfast, lunch and lots of fun.

A sunny summer weekend has arrived and it brings numerous fun ways to seize the day. You can always head out hiking or spend the day at the pool, but the Carson City Fair is just here until Sunday. Farm animals, great exhibits, live entertainment, a carnival, and a bull-riding rodeo can be found at Fuji Park. Park your car at the Super Walmart on Topsy and you’ll be treated to a free shuttle. Go a little bit country at the Brewery Arts Center tonight; they are bringing back the Southern Drawl Band to the Minnesota Street Stage for this week’s free concert.

Boys and Girls Clubs of Western Nevada score with Tice-Pegram Carson Valley partnership

Mike Tice, offensive line coach for the Oakland Raiders football team brought his A-game to his 7th annual charity golf tournament weekend in June featuring the entire Raiders coaching staff, including head coach Jack Del Rio and a spate of former NFL players from around the country. The event doubled its take this year, including a match from Carson Valley Inn owner, Mike Pegram to over $300,000.

"Charles Barkley became a beacon of hope and support for the firefighters and the recovery efforts of the community," Tahoe Douglas Fire Marshal Eric Guevin told the crowd at the 10th tee Friday morning. More residential building has occurred in the Nevada state capital during the last fiscal year than any other in more than a decade, the Carson City Community Development Report for July shows.

Fire agencies respond to brush fire on Highway 50 at Spooner on the valley side

UPDATE 2:45PM: Both westbound lanes now open at Highway 50 Spooner from the valley side. The Spooner fire has been extinguished. The cause is under investigation.

UPDATE 1:50PM: As firefighters were being released from the fire on Spooner, Carson City fire department was called to a fully involved vehicle fire in the area of Golf Club Drive and Sierra Highlands on the valley side of Highway 50 and Spooner.

Firefighters called to brush fire burning in Jacks Valley area near golf course

TUESDAY UPDATE: Jacks Valley Road was closed for around three hours from Highway 395 to Genoa Lane. It reopened at around 7:30 p.m. Monday. The cause of the 25-acre fire is under investigation.

UPDATE 6:12PM: Firefighters report the forward advance of the Foothill fire on Jacks Valley Road has been stopped but the winds are still creating problems. The size of the fire has been reduced to 25 acres, according to Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center.
