Fire agencies respond to brush fire on Highway 50 at Spooner on the valley side
UPDATE 2:45PM: Both westbound lanes now open at Highway 50 Spooner from the valley side. The Spooner fire has been extinguished. The cause is under investigation.

UPDATE 1:50PM: As firefighters were being released from the fire on Spooner, Carson City fire department was called to a fully involved vehicle fire in the area of Golf Club Drive and Sierra Highlands on the valley side of Highway 50 and Spooner.

UPDATE 1:35PM: Nevada Highway Patrol has opened one westbound lane of Highway 50 on the valley side of Spooner. Eastbound Highway 50 remained open for traffic during the 1-acre fire, which is now in mop up phase and has been turned over to Nevada Division of Forestry.

UPDATE 1:07PM: Firefighters at the wildfire off of lower Spooner on the valley side report the blaze has been contained with responding units on scene building a hose line around the fire and mopping up. The cause is under investigation.

UPDATE 12:43 p.m.: Highway 50 to Spooner Summit is closed at this time, and air support is on the way to fight the blaze, said to be contained at this time and around the size of a football field.

Carson City Fire Department, East Fork Fire and Tahoe Douglas Fire are responding early Tuesday afternoon to a brush fire reported on the valley side of Highway 50 up Spooner.
The fire was reported at around 12:20 p.m. and said to be around 1-2 miles up Highway 50 on the north side. Smoke and flames are visible.
