Firefighters called to brush fire burning in Jacks Valley area near golf course
TUESDAY UPDATE: Jacks Valley Road was closed for around three hours from Highway 395 to Genoa Lane. It reopened at around 7:30 p.m. Monday. The cause of the 25-acre fire is under investigation.

UPDATE 6:12PM: Firefighters report the forward advance of the Foothill fire on Jacks Valley Road has been stopped but the winds are still creating problems. The size of the fire has been reduced to 25 acres, according to Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center.

UPDATE 4:57PM: Jacks Valley Road is closed at Highway 395 and Foothill Road is closed at Genoa Lane. Ground crews battling the blaze are receiving air support, according to Carson Valley Times.

MONDAY 4:40PM: Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center reports the fire, dubbed the Foothill Fire, is now at 85 acres and growing.

Firefighters in Douglas County were called Monday afternoon to a brush fire burning in the Jacks Valley area south of Carson City.
The fire is burning in the area of Genoa Lakes near the newer ranch course. Carson City firefighters have been called to assist on the fire, which is being fueled by gusty winds. The fire was reported at around 4:10 p.m.
According to dispatch firefighters have been called to the area of Jacks Valley Road and Mountain Meadows. The fire was spreading and is believed to be threatening structures.
