While Columbus Day is usually not celebrated in Nevada, it is a professional development day for our school district. Take the kids to Carson Lanes for $1 bowling. Carson Library is offering a Makerspace for Kids this afternoon with hands-on STEAM activities that make learning fun. It’s the Buccaneers versus the Panthers for Monday Night Football: drink specials can be found all over town. Sing the ‘weekend’s over’ blues during karaoke at the Firkin and Fox.

Grab a few extra layers and enjoy the day. Western Nevada College has invited the local candidates to a debate; head to Marlette Hall on the first floor of the Cedar Building. You can watch the Vikings take on the NY Giants tonight, or get your swing on with the High Sierra Swing Dance Club. Firkin and Fox has karaoke tonight: it’s a great way to start the week.

Walking sticks recommended.
Muscle Powered Easy Hike program are hikes of between 2 to 4 miles in length, often with some elevation gain (no more than 500') and can be on a paved path, smooth wide trail, or single track. The hikes will usually be of approximately 1 1/2 duration.
Carson City Toyota helping WNC students succeed through scholarships
Submitted by editor on Fri, 08/26/2016 - 10:16amCarson City Toyota is funding several new scholarships for local students who attend Western Nevada College. The students come from Carson City, Dayton, Douglas and Silver Stage high schools.
Carson Toyata General Manager Dana Whaley presented a $4,000 check to WNC President Chet Burton this week. The scholarships were created to help eight college students meet financial needs, as they work toward a degree from WNC.
