The Fox Brewpub is hosting their monthly Whiskey Wednesday tonight, complete with raffle prizes and of course, whiskey. A 21-year-old Gardnerville man has been identified as the pedestrian struck and killed in a hit and run crash that happened early Saturday morning in the Johnson Lane area of Douglas County, authorities said Monday.

UPDATE 4:40AM: Power has been restored to much of the affected outage areas in Minden/Gardnerville and Glenbrook as of 4:30 a.m., according to NV Energy.

Cancer patients were treated Friday morning to a fly-fishing retreat in Gardnerville co-hosted by Carson Tahoe Cancer Center and Casting For Recovery, a national organization that has been funding outdoor events for cancer patients over the past two decades.

Due to the risk of wildfires, the Carson Ranger District will be instituting a temporary shooting restriction. This restriction will go into effect on Friday, June 30, and remain in effect until Saturday, Sept. 30 or until conditions change, the U.S. Forest Service announced Thursday.

The Carson Valley Pops Orchestra is bringing back their traditional July Fourth Concert in the Park.

Set for 11:30 a.m. at Heritage Park in Gardnerville, right after the Gardnerville Fun Run, this free concert is an ideal way for families to celebrate the Fourth in an old fashioned, small town setting. Bring your picinic and a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy the patriotic line up of traditional July Fourth tunes.

How much fun can you pack into a weekend? That isn’t purely a rhetorical question – it’s more of a challenge. Grab the kids for a day at the Dangberg Home Historical Ranch where storytellers are the featured guests. Locals are in the spotlight at the Rockabilly Riot, the Iron Rebels Car Show is for resident cars only. The bells are ringing at the First United Methodist Church. Handbell Ensemble group, Tintabulations, presents a free concert at 7 p.m.

Hello fellow anglers, it is now officially summer time and we are feeling it. When the temperatures reach 90 in Tahoe, It is time to fish the higher lakes. I hope you had a special time last week on Fathers Day.

On June 14th, Flag Day, The Ladies Auxiliary of the Fleet Reserve Association #137 celebrated by delivering a flag to each resident at the Carson Valley Senior Living Center, Gardnerville. The event started with the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance and afterward each had the opportunity to receive personal care items, such as hand lotion, Kleenex, toothbrush, denture cleanser, note pads, playing cards, etc. The residents enjoyed the day but the Ladies of Unit #137 enjoyed it more.

With rain, thunder, lightning and reports of small hail around Gardnerville and the Carson Valley, the National Weather Service says there is a chance for thunderstorms later this evening extending into the Carson City area and Lake Tahoe Basin.

A 38-year-old man was arrested early Sunday for a warrant alleging sexual assault of a child and lewdness with a child under the age of 14, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

A 26-year-old man was arrested early Sunday morning in the 500 block of North Carson Street for misdemeanor suspicion of second domestic battery, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

I don’t know what to tell you, Carson City, the weather seems to be suffering from confusion. The second week of June shouldn’t be starting out this wet and chilly. My only consolation is that the weather app on my phone promises rising temperatures later this week. Take the kids to Carson Lanes today: it’s indoors and they’ve got one dollar game and shoe rental specials all day long.
