With a little help from the wind and a birds-eye view, we're flying into Friday, April 5, 2019 with plenty to do and see as we get ready for the weekend. National Weather Service forecasters say it will be a breezy day with some rain. But don't let that dampen your day as there's art showings, live music and hilarious comedy venues at the Brewery Arts Center and Carson Nugget.

Please join Muscle Powered on Saturday, April 13 for an easy hike on a portion of the V&T Railroad Grade, northwest Carson City. Meet at the dirt parking lot opposite Murphy Drive on Combs Canyon parking area. Hike on a portion of the old V&T Railroad and enjoy fabulous views of Carson City and Eagle Valley. Hike distance will range between 2-4 miles, depending on trail condition.

Good morning Carson City. It is Thursday, April 4, 2019. As matters at the legislature continue, we are winding up for another weekend full of activities, including the downtown wine walk and a bevy of shows at the Brewery Arts Center. We may see some showers today, Friday and early Saturday, typical for the early days of spring. Stay tuned.

Apologies to all but Carson City BMX is postponing their Open House and start of racing to Easter weekend, April 20 and 21.
Track prep has been slow going but heck or high water pushing to make this happen. So now, Carson City BMX Open House is scheduled for Saturday, 20 April 2019, 1-4 pm and start our 2019 season on Sunday, 21 April 2019, signups 9-10 am (must be a USABMX member).

We're looking at a steady flow of showers today, according to the National Weather Service with snow in the upper elevations of the Sierra. There is a Winter Weather Advisory until midnight for the west slope of the Sierra. Today in town we have events that range from a Carson High School team fundraiser to movies to politics to fitness. Well the weekend sure went fast as we say goodbye to March. Now we're heading into Monday, April 1, 2019 where pranks, larks and tom foolery are orders of the day. No fooling when it comes to the weather though. We may see a slight chance of showers in the afternoon and evening with more of a chance of rain on Tuesday. Stay tuned.

Welcome Carson City to Sunday, March 31, 2019. The last day of the month will bring sunny skies and a daytime high somewhere in the low 60s. Ideal spring weather before the next system arrives Monday bringing with it warmer temperatures but showers as well. Today there's art gallery showings, two children's theater performances, a bike ride and a tour of the stone Wungnema House at Mills Park.

The weatherman says Sunday is going to be warm and sunny; so come out to the Foundation for Carson City Parks and Recreation’s monthly open house, Sunday afternoon at the Wungnema House, from 2 to 5 p.m. There is no admission fee, and all are welcome.

Two upcoming dances offered by two Carson City schools are aimed at family participation, with parents serving as dance partners to their children.

A Dayton woman was arrested early Tuesday morning in the 1100 block of Woodside Drive for gross misdemeanor suspicion of child neglect and endangerment and a parole and probation violation, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.

Carson City residents experienced discolored tap water on Tuesday, which, according to Carson City Public Works, is caused by non-toxic, naturally occurring minerals that have accumulated in the water system. Public Works is currently spot checking and flushing the water systems and taps should be all clear within 24-hours.

My name is Cassidy Davis and I am the owner of Northern Nevada HotSpot as well as the founder of a local organization, Faith Hope Love of Northern Nevada. And that may happen today with gusty winds to usher in another storm, expected to bring up to 2 feet of snow around Lake Tahoe. This Saturday morning 19 intrepid Carson City area "Trash Mobbers" came out in the drizzle to pick up what others left behind. We met at the south end of North Lompa Lane and everyone spread out along the Multi-Use Path to gather nearly 600 pounds of trash from that point south to 5th street.

Meet in the parking area next to the ranch house at Silver Saddle Ranch off of Carson River Road. Please join us for an 8-mile round-trip hike that traverses most of the "Escape from Prison Hill" trail. We will head up Dead Truck Trail, cross over to hike down to the most western end of Prison Hill, turn south and then east to arrive at the highest point of Prison Hill.

CHS celebrated its Second Annual Carson Unplugged event this past week where staff and students were encouraged to unplug from technology and be present in the moment, enjoying more face-to-face interactions and less screen time.
