Radio towers no longer in Carson City skyline
Submitted by Leonard Wyatt on Fri, 03/18/2016 - 2:32pmThe radio transmission towers located near the Carson City Public Works on Butti Way and Fairview Drive were demolished Friday as the city reclaims the land for unspecified future use. The pair of towers, built in 1954, stood 220 feet high and will be replaced by a single tower. The new tower will be relocated about 100 yards west of the current location to an adjacent property, a spokesperson for the radio station said.
Carson City Public Works, construction company salvage downtown plants for public
Submitted by editor on Fri, 03/18/2016 - 12:37pmWith all the work going on downtown, Carson City Public Works Department and Q and D Construction will salvage the bushes and shrubs from the Downtown Carson Street medians, currently under construction.
Citizens interested in transplanting the plants can head to the intersection of 3rd and Curry Street after 5 p.m. on Monday, March 21 through Tuesday, March 22. Plants will be available for pick up on a first come first serve basis.

The $30 million project is for the repair and rehabilitation of major components of the sewer plant to ensure continued compliance with State and Federal permits.

Carson City exceeds 2015 job gain expectation in statewide employment revision

Carson City’s benchmark revealed the area’s economy gained an annual average of 300 jobs over-the-year, an increase of 1.1 percent.

Bistro at Tahoe Ridge still closed, winery open
Submitted by Brett Fisher on Thu, 02/18/2016 - 12:52pmThe Bistro restaurant at Tahoe Ridge Winery remains closed for renovations, winery employees have said, but the winery continues its retail and production operations in the rear of the building.
The bistro closed right after Christmas 2015, and has not reopened. A sign on the front doors of the restaurant stated the bistro was temporarily closed for renovations, and winery employees last month reported the bar area of the bistro was scheduled for a major remodel.

Cave Rock tunnel at Lake Tahoe to be extended 60 feet this summer
