An improvement project at the Cave Rock boat launch at Lake Tahoe is scheduled to begin Monday, July 11. Between July 11 and July 31, the southern half of the parking lot will be closed. Boats may be launched, but parking will be limited.

The Boys and Girls Clubs of Western Nevada will celebrate the ribbon cutting and grand opening of its William N. Pennington Teen Center Thursday at 10 a.m. The community is invited.

Funded by a $1.2 million naming gift from the William N. Pennington Foundation of Reno and donations from the Carson City community, the club broke ground on the Teen Center in October 2015.

Some downtown businesses hurt by bike race closures

While the inaugural Epic Rides Carson City Off-Road mountain bike race series may have been a boon to the local economy, some downtown businesses struggled to stay out of the red last weekend because of what they felt were excessive road closures for the first-time event.
