Carson City area road report for week of March 14-20
Here is the Carson City area road report for the week of March 14-20: Work will continue on the Downtown Corridor improvement project on Carson Street. Motorists this week can expect the following work areas:
— Carson Street will continue to be one lane in each direction.
— West Sophia, Ann, Washington and Spear St. will be closed or affected by traffic control at various times throughout the week. Look for signage.
— East Telegraph St. from Plaza to Carson St. in both directions will be closed for several days, early to mid-week.
— Fall Street will be closed to through traffic, but parking in surrounding lots will be accessible.

Utility work will continue Monday through Friday as indicated below, 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with possible flagger controlled traffic at the following locations:
— Mountain Street between Fleischmann Way and Long Street.
— Division Street between Fleischmann Way and Long Street.
— Long Street between Mountain and Division Streets.
— Fleischmann Way between Mountain Street and Division Street.
— Sierra Circle, Hillside Way, Miller Way, Pine View Way, and Lane Circle.
There will be intermittent closures at the intersection of Curry and Proctor Streets. Traffic will be able to access Curry Street during construction.
Lane closures are expected at the following locations due to utility work:
— Center Drive south of Topsy Lane.
— Goni Road between Boeing Way and Kelvin Road.
Race Track Road will be closed to through traffic between Bigelow Drive and Schulz Drive, and Bigelow Drive will be closed to through traffic south of Snyder Avenue for the entire week.
There will be intermittent lane closures on King Street near the intersection of Ormsby Boulevard. Minor delays are possible.
The Bellevue Road bridge over I-580 in Washoe Valley will continue to be closed due to maintenance. Detours will be signed.
The Nevada Department of Transportation is improving bridges crossing the Carson River and the Cradlebaugh Slough on U.S. 395 in the Carson Valley just south of Carson City. Periodic lane and shoulder closures will continue primarily during non-commute hours. One lane in each direction of U.S. 395 will always be available during construction. The project is scheduled to complete by early summer 2016.
With a winter storm moving into the Sierra on Sunday and early Monday, the National Weather Service in Reno advises that motorists should be prepared for adverse conditions for the Monday morning commute, especially if traveling into the mountains. A Winter Storm Warning for Lake Tahoe and the Sierra runs through 11 a.m. Monday.

Around the Sierra this week, Caltrans reports the following for the week of March 13-19, 2016:
Interstate 80 (Placer County) from Sierra College Boulevard to Newcastle Road: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect alternating lane closures and on-ramp closures from 8 p.m. to 9 a.m. Sunday through Saturday for bridge work. Motorists also can expect one-way traffic control from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday on the Brace, Gilardi, Horseshoe Bar, King, Penryn and Magra overcrossings for bridge work.
State Route 89 (Placer/Nevada County) at the Union Pacific Railroad undercrossing south of Interstate 80: Nicknamed the “Mousehole” project, work continues to construct a pedestrian and bicycle tunnel under the Union Pacific Railroad adjacent to the existing SR 89 undercrossing and construct a Class I paved trail along the east side of SR 89 between Deerfield Drive and West River Street.
State Route 89 (Placer/Nevada County) from West River Street to Deerfield Drive: No traffic interfering work scheduled for this week.
State Route 49 - Southbound (Placer County) from Kemper and New Airport Road to Cottage Drive: Motorists can expect right shoulder closures from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday March 14-18 for utility work.
State Route 49 (Sierra County) from Lager Beer Viaduct to .35 miles north of Lager Beer Viaduct: Motorists can expect one way traffic controls from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday March 15 to Friday March 18 for roadway construction.
State Route 49 (Sierra County) from Rams Horn Campground to Sidehill viaduct: Motorists can expect right lane and shoulder closures from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday March 14 to March 18 for guardrail work.
State Route 49 (Yuba/Sierra County) from Marysville Road to Yuba Pass summit: Motorists can expect right lane and shoulder closures from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday March 14 to March 18 for miscellaneous work.
State Route 174 – Westbound (Nevada County) from Ophir Street to Memorial Lane: Motorists can expect alternating lane one way traffic control and right shoulder closures on the local cross streets from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday March 14 to March 18 for utility work.
