Nevada Humane Society celebrates one year in Carson City
The statistics are counted and Nevada Humane Society is proud to announce that their first full year in Carson City had a big impact on lifesaving, making Nevada’s capital city the second region to become a no-kill community in Nevada.
Carson City can now be proud to say that all healthy, treatable and rehabilitatable animals are saved. Here are the 2015 lifesaving statistics of Nevada Humane Society Carson City, as well as the number of animals brought into the shelter and the number of lives saved:
— Prior to Nevada Humane Society partnering with the community, the lifesaving rate was 55%. In 2015, the lifesaving rate for cats was 95.8 percent and for dogs 94.3 percent, a dramatic increase!
— Construction broke ground on a new animal shelter in October 2015, with the opening anticipated for late 2016. The new shelter will provide more housing for dogs and cats, with additional space for small animals. A veterinary clinic will also be built on site for in-house veterinary care and spay/neuter services.
— 1,942 animals were sheltered while 1,844 animals were saved!
— Animal Control Officers responded to more than 2,300 calls, resulting in everything from warnings to citations to welfare checks and follow up visits. Over 2,000 licenses were also issued.
Nevada Humane Society would like to extend a big thank you to the community of Carson City for their support—which allowed Nevada Humane Society to reunite people and pets, help people keep their pets in tough times and place homeless pets into loving homes. This is lifesaving. This is Nevada Humane Society.
