Bistro at Tahoe Ridge still closed, winery open
The Bistro restaurant at Tahoe Ridge Winery remains closed for renovations, winery employees have said, but the winery continues its retail and production operations in the rear of the building.
The bistro closed right after Christmas 2015, and has not reopened. A sign on the front doors of the restaurant stated the bistro was temporarily closed for renovations, and winery employees last month reported the bar area of the bistro was scheduled for a major remodel.
However, winery employees reported Wednesday hearing no construction activity in the bistro yet and the remodel appears to be on hold.
The Carrington Company, a Eureka, California-based property management firm that owns the Carson Mall property on which the winery operates, has said Tahoe Ridge shareholders have been discussing long-term options for the restaurant side of the business and no decisions have been made yet.
"The principal shareholders of Tahoe Ridge Winery are working through a series of strategic planning meetings," said Gabe Hagemann, managing director of the Carrington Company. "To my knowledge, no definitive decisions have been reached regarding a timeline for when the bistro will reopen."
Hagemann confirmed that the winery and its retail operations, including the tasting room, is open for business and "clicking on all cylinders."
But when the bistro will reopen is a question that remains unanswered, he said.
"The bistro was a fantastic addition to the (Carson) Mall and was very well received by the community," Hagemann said. "We had overwhelmingly positive feedback about the menu offering, the quality of food, the service, and the overall attractive price point."
