UPDATE: If you watched the skies over Carson Valley late Monday morning, there's a good chance you may have caught a glimpse of the U.S. Navy Blue Angels.

With the 2018 Aviation Roundup days away, the U.S. Navy Blue Angels landed at the Minden-Tahoe Airport this Monday, Oct. 8. In addition, Fat Albert, the C130 transport plane for the Blue Angels, arrives.

GENOA, Nev. — Mormon Station is located in the heart of the Genoa National Historic District, which encompasses over 25 structures and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

Forecasters say we can expect typical fall weather in the Sierra, Carson City and western Nevada this week with high temperatures near normal and mainly dry conditions.

A recorded TED Talk by Dr. Jonathan Patz, and panel discussion by local experts on the impacts of warmer temperatures on our health will take place at Western Nevada Community College’s Marlette Hall on Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 6 p.m. Marlette Hall is located in the Cedar Building on the south side of the Carson City campus.

MINDEN — Grocery shoppers can now add the U.S. Navy Blue Angels and the Red Bull Air Force team to their basket while checking out at their neighborhood Raley’s. Tickets are available now through Oct. 14 at the Raley’s Supermarket in Gardnerville.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada’s annual Luau raised 18 percent of the Club’s annual operating budget for the year, the highest amount in the event’s 25-year history. GARDNERVILLE, Nev. — Carson Valley Medical Center, located at 1107 Highway 395 N in Gardnerville, recently added Holter monitoring services to its EKG department.

The test, which must be ordered by a physician, monitors the patient’s heart rhythm for 24 to 48 hours. The Holter monitor is a small device -- about the size of a pager-- with three electrodes that record the patient’s heart rhythm.

The technicians at CVMC will schedule the patient to come in and have the Holter monitor applied. The monitor is then worn continuously for the period of time indicated by the physician.

GARDNERVILLE, Nev. — It wouldn't be fall in the Carson Valley without the annual Scarecrow and Harvest Festival hosted by Main Street Gardens and East Fork Gallery. Or the Annual Slaughterhouse Lane Coffin and Stretcher Races.

This year Main Street Gardnerville has combined all these events into one big festival called Main Street Fall Fest, with more music, activities, demonstrations and vendors at Heritage Park on Saturday, Oct. 6 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Charter Communications has confirmed a widespread internet outage that began at around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Carson City area.

It’s nice that the beginning of the school year is almost immediately rewarded with a three-day weekend.
