No locks at TJ’s Corral during sold-out 38 Special show
Friday night, just before the first days of fall, Carson Valley Inn Casino had added one last show to its summer concert series at TJ’s Corral. 38 Special came to our little Minden town to deliver all its hits in the sold-out venue.
Sunset had already passed by the time the band had started, but the drinks were flowing and people were in great spirits. Whether they came dressed up or comfortable casual, most were out of their seats and enjoying the show. The band unraveled a tight set and played all the crowd favorites as concertgoers sang back along. The band played 90 minutes people cleared enjoyed themselves, singing and dancing the night away.
Southern rockers, 38 Special was formed in 1974 by neighborhood friends Don Barnes and Donnie Van Zant in Jacksonville, Florida. The group got it name when musicians were practicing and police officers responded to a noise complaint. Band members were unable to come out because of a padlock on the door.
