Carson City area September gaming earnings climb 10.5 percent

Casinos in Carson City and Carson Valley saw gaming earnings climb by 10.52 percent in September compared to the same time last year, according to figures released Tuesday by the Nevada Gaming Control Board.

NDOT completes much of Kingsbury Grade drainage enhancements

Several residents were concerned Vice President Mike Pence's visit to Carson City on parade day, where he plans to rally support for Senator Dean Heller and Attorney General Adam Laxalt, would disrupt Nevada Day scheduled events, but Sheriff Kenny Furlong said that isn't the case.

Calvary Chapel Carson Valley's annual Harvest Festival set for Halloween evening

Calvary Chapel Carson Valley's Harvest Festival will take place on Oct. 31, with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. It is a warm and safe alternative to Halloween located at the Douglas County Fairgrounds on Pinenut Road.

Carson Valley Medical Center Great Outdoors Health Fair Oct. 20

Carson Valley Medical Center has moved its annual community health fair to the middle of autumn, with this year’s event scheduled to take place Oct. 20 from 9 a.m. to noon on its main campus, 1107 Highway 395 N in Gardnerville.

Free flu vaccinations will be offered during this year’s fair, along with a variety of free health screenings including glucose testing, peripheral artery disease screenings (Ankle-Brachial Index), blood pressure checks, Body Mass Index readings and more.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a man discovered Monday morning near the Chichester housing development in Gardnerville.
