In a last minute announcement, Carson City based non-profit Food For Thought, Inc. will continue the Summer Lunch Program during the 2019 season. The program provides free and nutritious lunches to all children under 18.

V&T Railway Toast of the Canyon train tours return; will feature local and regional wineries, distilleries and breweries

CARSON CITY — Returning for the 2019 season, the V&T Railway’s popular Toast of the Canyon train rides kicks off on Saturday, June 15 and will feature area wineries, distilleries and breweries. The event, which runs every other Saturday through October, takes passengers into the Carson River Canyon to enjoy libations and appetizers.

The Carson High School Football team wrapped up their spring practices Thursday with a 7 on 7 match-up with the Fernley Vaqueros. It was a positive showing for the Senators as Quarterback Will Breeding threw four touchdowns to four different receivers.

Spooky history returns Saturday with the 27th year of Carson City Ghost Walk Tours

For the 27th year, the spookiest historical tour of the capital city is returning this Saturday, June 1 with the Carson City Ghost Walk.

The Carson City Ghost Walk is a seasonal historical tour of Carson City’s west side, a walking history lesson with a touch of the supernatural.

CARSON CITY — The Carson Farmers Market will kick off the 2019 season this Saturday, June 1 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot at 3rd and Curry streets. The Farmers Market will run until Saturday, Sept. 28.

Enjoy fresh-picked produce, local meats, fresh flowers, artisan baked goods, jams, honey, crafts, live music and Carson City’s smiling faces.

V&T Railway 2019 season begins with Mother’s Day train Saturday and Sunday

Kicking off its 2019 season, V&T Railway will hold a special Mother’s Day train on Saturday, May 11 and Sunday, May 12. Guests will experience a 24-mile round-trip ride through the historic Comstock, departing Carson City (Eastgate Depot) at 10 a.m. and will arrive in Virginia City at approximately 11:30 a.m., before returning to Carson at 4:15 p.m.

Ace in hole: Taylor Clarke on mound, Reno opens in Fresno

The Reno Aces’ ace pitcher from a year ago gets the start tonight in Fresno in the opening game of the 2019 season. A 27-year-old right-hander, Taylor Clarke led the team in wins with 13 for the Triple-A squad. His competitiveness is his strength.

Carson High School football held its annual awards banquet Monday night in Carson City at Casino Fandango's new banquet room. The event was attended by more than 225 players, coaches, family members and supporters.
