As we go forward and move ahead into Tuesday, July 2, 2019 we're looking at another sunny day, all the better as we prepare to celebrate Independence Day. Are you ready for July 4 fireworks at Mills Park? As a Tuesday warmup, get the heart pumping during Muscle Powered's three fitness outings. Plus there's art showings, hands-on science activities in Silver City, an evening archery shoot, a viewing of the 1953 film "From Here to Eternity" at the Brewery Arts Center hosted by the Carson City Classic Cinema Club and more. Heading into Monday, the first day of July 2019 we leave an action-packed weekend behind us with a long Independence Day holiday week ahead. The activities continue, albeit at a slower place for the first day of the work week. There's art showings and activities for adults and kids, a My Place Hotels job fair, a talk featuring the program director at Nevada Rural Counties Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, a swing dance class and more. Heading into Thursday, June 27, 2019, there's plenty to do and see around the Carson City area as we march toward an action-packed weekend. There's a morning Muscle Powered walk, Food Truck Thursday at Mills Park, a Farmers Market in Dayton, a discussion on climate change at Western Nevada College, a history presentation on Chinese woodcutters at the Nevada State Museum, a presentation by the NNDA Executive Director at a GOP monthly meeting, Cruise Night at Wing Stop, an information meeting on the Ross Gold Park master plan hosted by Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space. With a windy cool down headed our way, activities around the Carson City area Wednesday, June 26 will make for a breezy good time. Get on out there and keep the blood pumping and oxygen flowing with an early morning walk or bike ride. Heading into Tuesday, June 18, 2019 we're looking at continued warming around the region with a daytime high around 91. Temperatures are expected to actually lower toward the end of the week. Events around town Tuesday include a Muscle Powered walk, hike and bike ride, yoga, exercises for the mind and body hosted by the Carson City Emblem Club, political gatherings, art activities and more.

In a last minute announcement, Carson City based non-profit Food For Thought, Inc. will continue the Summer Lunch Program during the 2019 season. The program provides free and nutritious lunches to all children under 18.

CARSON CITY — Returning for the 2019 season, the V&T Railway’s popular Toast of the Canyon train rides kicks off on Saturday, June 15 and will feature area wineries, distilleries and breweries. The event, which runs every other Saturday through October, takes passengers into the Carson River Canyon to enjoy libations and appetizers.

Good morning Carson City, and happy June! We have a ton of events going on today in our beloved capital city, with the June wine walk, the first day of the farmer’s market, a brew fest at Fuji park, and more! With a high of 75, it’s shaping up to finally start to feel like summer (knock on wood).

The Carson High School Football team wrapped up their spring practices Thursday with a 7 on 7 match-up with the Fernley Vaqueros. It was a positive showing for the Senators as Quarterback Will Breeding threw four touchdowns to four different receivers.

Heading into a jam-packed weekend of events around the Carson City region, there's a bevy of activities Friday to get your started. Lace up your shoes for a morning walk at Riverview Park, and then head on over to the Nevada State Museum for a coin press demonstration, and tours that explore anthropology and Nevada history. Later there's a cruise night gathering at Carson Mall to benefit Safe Grad Night, an Italian dinner fundraiser at the Governor's Mansion to benefit Carson City's homeless, live music at Living the Good Life and A to Zen, laughs at the Carson Comedy Club, and much more. For the 27th year, the spookiest historical tour of the capital city is returning this Saturday, June 1 with the Carson City Ghost Walk.

The Carson City Ghost Walk is a seasonal historical tour of Carson City’s west side, a walking history lesson with a touch of the supernatural.

CARSON CITY — The Carson Farmers Market will kick off the 2019 season this Saturday, June 1 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot at 3rd and Curry streets. The Farmers Market will run until Saturday, Sept. 28.

Enjoy fresh-picked produce, local meats, fresh flowers, artisan baked goods, jams, honey, crafts, live music and Carson City’s smiling faces.

Happy Mother's Day Carson City! It's going to be a hot one today with a high of 82 and a low of 47. Don't forget to stop by Mills Park for the carnival, which will be packing up and heading out of town tonight. The weekend is at our doorstep as we head into Friday, May 10, 2019. Even though forecasters say we may have showers this weekend, the cool spring rain won't dampen the fun. We have a bevy of activities lined up Friday including the opening of the Transcontinental Railroad exhibit at the Nevada State Railroad Museum, day 1 of the two-day Mother's Day Plant Sale hosted by The Greenhouse Project, RSVP's Spring Celebration and Carnival at Mills Park, a day hike, art showings, live music and more.

Heading into Thursday, May 9, 2019 we're looking at a few showers and partly sunny skies around Carson City. The event lineup features the RSVP Spring Celebration and Carnival kickoff and family night at Mills Park, a Healthy Communities event in Silver Springs, CASA volunteer information hour workshop, an afternoon hike along the Ash Canyon trail, art demonstrations, live music and more. Kicking off its 2019 season, V&T Railway will hold a special Mother’s Day train on Saturday, May 11 and Sunday, May 12. Guests will experience a 24-mile round-trip ride through the historic Comstock, departing Carson City (Eastgate Depot) at 10 a.m. and will arrive in Virginia City at approximately 11:30 a.m., before returning to Carson at 4:15 p.m.

Track prep has been slow going but heck or high water pushing to make this happen. So now, Carson City BMX Open House is scheduled for Saturday, 20 April 2019, 1-4 pm and start our 2019 season on Sunday, 21 April 2019, signups 9-10 am (must be a USABMX member).

The Reno Aces’ ace pitcher from a year ago gets the start tonight in Fresno in the opening game of the 2019 season. A 27-year-old right-hander, Taylor Clarke led the team in wins with 13 for the Triple-A squad. His competitiveness is his strength.

GARDNERVILLE — The Carson Valley Patriots have now expanded into the Douglas Youth Football League and have announced the dates for their 2019 season in-person registration events. The opening event will be held Saturday, March 23 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Pizza Factory in Minden.

As part of Minor League Baseball’s initiative celebrating Hispanic heritage and culture, the Reno Aces will become “Los Corazones de Reno” for four games during the upcoming 2019 season.

CARSON CITY — First LEGO League held its Northern Nevada Championship at the University of Nevada, Reno Saturday, Jan. 26, and two Carson High School students were honored for their service to the program.

Carson High School football held its annual awards banquet Monday night in Carson City at Casino Fandango's new banquet room. The event was attended by more than 225 players, coaches, family members and supporters. Coach Blair Roman awarded his outgoing senior class various awards for their commitment to Carson football over the past 4 years and discussed the rebuilding process taking place in the program at this time.

Paul Goldschmidt’s exit Wednesday from the Arizona Diamondbacks may open the door for two hot-hitting infielders who held down the corners most of last season for the Reno Aces, Christian Walker and Kevin Cron.
