There are some fairly excited kids throughout the valley. This last Friday before Christmas marks the beginning of winter break. The Carson City Library invites everyone in the community to participate in the annual Winter Read-a-thon with a goal of 90,000 minutes read (or listened to) over the next two weeks. Sign up on-line or at their kick-off event this afternoon. Comedian John Mencarelli headlines Carson Comedy inside the Carson Nugget, and you’ll find the Rebekah Chase Band on stage in their Loft. Nevada’s employment growth over the last 12 months is now 1.3 percent with October unemployment seeing a 0.1 percent increase to 5.7 percent, according to figures released by the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation's October 2024 economic report. The Lyon County Board of County Commissioners held a special meeting on Friday, November 15, 2024, to finalize the canvass of votes for the 2024 General Election.

The Board certified the election results, marking the conclusion of the democratic process for the county's participation in the statewide election. Lyon County Clerk/Treasurer Staci Lindberg, thanked the 69 poll workers, Lyon County staff and many others that contributed to the success of this election.

Those who find the tickets win a tour of the Wonka factory and a lifetime supply of candy.

Among the five winners are four bratty children and one kind-hearted boy, Charlie Bucket, who attends the tour with his grandfather.

The 29th annual Carson High Craft Fair is returning tonight, Friday Nov. 15 and continuing through tomorrow, Saturday Nov. 16 at Carson High School.
