Tonight, funnyman Steven Briggs kicks off three nights of comedians at Carson Comedy inside of the Nugget Casino. Whiskey Tavern on Highway 50 East hosts a Friday night karaoke party. Enjoy the music stylings of Tom Miller during dinner at Living the Good Life, then stick around for some dancing.

The Carson City Library invites everyone in the community to participate in the annual Winter Read-a-thon with a goal of 90,000 minutes read (or listened to) over the next two weeks. Sign up on-line or at their kick-off event this afternoon. Comedian John Mencarelli headlines Carson Comedy inside the Carson Nugget, and you’ll find the Rebekah Chase Band on stage in their Loft. The Carson Library is usually a great place to retreat on days like this, but you’ll find their doors closed for the next few weeks: time for a makeover. If you’d like to check out a book or use the wireless internet, you’ll find a ‘pop-up’ library in the Community Center this week, and in the Adams Hub on Proctor Street next week.

Caterpillar’s Hookah Lounge brings the boys of J and M Productions into the house every Wednesday for an over 18 karaoke party.

Get ready for Halloween with your choice of pumpkin patches. Seeliger Elementary School is hosting theirs for the twenty-fifth year in a row. Take a trip on the V and T Steam Train at the Nevada Railroad Museum, actually take several trips. The annual Harvest Train event offers an all-day wristband that allows for as many rides as you’d like, in addition to museum admission. So many more fun activities are available to you, you’ll have to read on to see them all.

She left behind her 4 beautiful children, ages 4, 6, 8 and 10. It’s a great day for the kids with the Kerak Shrine Circus in Reno, cookie decorating at Genoa Candy and Coffee, and a Father-Daughter Dance at Dayton High School. Show some love to Carson High Senior Amber Reeves: she’s displaying her photography at the Brewery Arts Center for her Senior Project. Carson City Arts Gallery introduces their monthly Artist Reception tonight by welcoming Kathleen Osborne Flanagan. The nightlife tonight features music, karaoke, dancing, comedy and more. Plenty of live music tonight will have you moving and grooving: Mo'z Motley Blues at Living the Good Life, Pawnshop at Westside Pour House, and Decoy at the Max Casino to name a few. Several new art exhibits are opening tonight, so make the rounds to the CCAI Courthouse Gallery, the Carson City Visitor Center, and Paradise Salon Spa Wellness if you want to hit them all.

Everyone who shows up in costume gets a chance to win a free drink every hour, and if you are brave enough to sing, you get another entry per song!
We'll also have a costume contest. Grand prize winner gets $50 cash + a free 3 hour karaoke party at a venue of your choice (distance limitations apply). Runner up gets a $25 bar tab, and everyone who shows up in costume gets a chance to win great raffle prizes all night long.

Get the weekend started with a good time downtown: Stereo Galaxy at Westside Pour House, comedy at the Nugget, and a DJ at Jimmy G’s Cigar Bar. Party 80s style at Whiskey Tavern’s karaoke party. Minden kicks off a summer of Concerts in the Park tonight with a tribute to the Beatles.

Holiday Community Karaoke Party

This first-time-ever event will feature Rolling Thunder Entertainment DJ Ted Nagel. The community is invited to share in a sing-along of holiday favorites. Bring friends, family and neighbors and “sing-a-song”!
This program is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
