Good morning Carson City and happy Saturday! Today we’ve got a packed day of activities, including Carson City’s Proudest Pride event, Sassabration! In addition, we’ve got the Capital City Kid’s Triathlon, the farmers market, a Carson Street car show, and more!

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of events and activities around the Carson City region to help the next three days breeze by. On Friday, Muscle Powered will host a morning walk at the Carson City Multi-Use Path at 8 a.m. And there's coin press demonstrations at the Nevada State Museum.

This week's edition of It's Your City features Adam Whitney, filling in for host Cortney Bloomer, with special guest Jayme Watts, owner of Sassafras Eclectic Food Joint in Carson City and co-founder of this Saturday's annual Sassabration.

Sassafras Eclectic Food Joint will kick-off Father’s Day in Carson City during its fifth annual Sassabration fundraiser event featuring Brunch and Bingo with Bea Arthur, a tribute to the late comedy actress, singer and activist Bea Arthur on Sunday, June 16 at 11 a.m.

Sierra Music Society is pleased to announce that the always popular “P’Opera!” is planning a fun-filled evening with “Magical” – The Music of Disney at Napa-Sonoma South in Reno at 7671 S. Virginia Street on Sunday, May 19. Treat yourself, your friends, and your family to a delightful evening as “P’Opera!” fills the room with a vast selection of popular and well-known Disney songs.

In the tradition of TED, a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading, comes TEDxCarsonCity, a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.

The Brewery Arts Center in Carson City is bringing the heat with The Fire Scottish Music Band this Saturday, Jan. 19 in the MHJ Black Box Theater at 7 p.m.

Arts for Children of Nevada will sponsor "Beat The Heat" a free event at the Carson Library, 900 Roop Street, Carson City on July 9 and July 30 from 10:15-11:15 a.m. Children will have the opportunity to explore percussion using a variety of percussion instruments and enjoy musical fun with Maureen Conlin, children's music specialist.

There are some fairly excited kids throughout the valley. This last Friday before Christmas marks the beginning of winter break. The Carson City Library invites everyone in the community to participate in the annual Winter Read-a-thon with a goal of 90,000 minutes read (or listened to) over the next two weeks. Sign up on-line or at their kick-off event this afternoon. Comedian John Mencarelli headlines Carson Comedy inside the Carson Nugget, and you’ll find the Rebekah Chase Band on stage in their Loft. Friday, Dec. 22

The Brewery Arts Center, Carson City’s premiere epicenter for the arts since 1976, presents Gerry O’Connor and Richard Mandel on Saturday, Oct. 14, 7 p.m. in the Maizie Harris Jesse Black Box Theater. This Saturday will begin the 4th season of the very popular Celtic Series and for the first time, you can purchase a season ticket to ensure that you don’t miss a show.

Tonight only, July 21, one of Carson City’s own will grace the stage at the Brewery Arts Center at 7 p.m. Jessica Tucker, a classical saxophone player and 2013 Carson High School graduate is making waves on an international scale.

The Third and Curry Farmers Market returns this Saturday morning to its regular spot behind the McFadden Plaza. For the rest of the summer season, from 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. the award-winning market brings all sorts of goodies to downtown Carson City.

The Nevada Arts Council, the Adams Hub for Innovation, and the Carson City Visitors Bureau invite you to an 'ARTrepreneur' Pop-Up Gallery Event on Saturday, June 3 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. in the Adams Hub for Innovation at 111 W Proctor Street (entrance at corner of Curry Street.)

The Kids on Big Rigs event will include crafts, activities, and a diverse collection of big rigs to learn about. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of Western Nevada and the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern Nevada. Kids on Big Rigs will be hosted at the Grand Opening of the Bob McFadden Plaza, which is conveniently located near Bella Fiore Wines, Mom and Pop's Diner, and The Firkin and Fox. Join us in celebration of Bob McFadden’s legacy and the incredible transformation of the downtown corridor. At 7:00 p.m.

Ever looked beyond the bark of a tree or swirl of a climbing vine to see the beauty of the elements that make up nature? Trails & Vistas is presenting the opportunity to do just that at their Art + Nature + Community Art Hike.

Classical music of Spain and Hollywood’s most celebrated movie scores will highlight a weekend filled with Latin-fused flamenco and string symphony as world renowned guitarist Ana Vidović, opens and famed double bass player Jeremy McCoy closes the second weekend of Lake Tahoe SummerFest, Aug. 7-9 in Incline Village, Nev.

Saturday, Oct. 11, 7pm, in The Maize Harris Jesse Theater, the Brewery Arts Celtic Series presents Cíana: Traditional Irish and Celtic Music. Tickets are $15.00 at the door, $10.00 in advance, $8.00 members here. For the last four years, this high-energy quartet has played extensively throughout Northern Nevada and the Eastern Sierra. Be prepared for some serious toe-tapping!

This year’s Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival comes to the Sand Harbor State Park shore July 11-August 24, with William Shakespeare’s As You Like It as the featured production of the summer.
