Monday night forum hosts Carson City candidates; second forum held tonight, Tuesday, Oct. 16
The public town forum Monday evening at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall brought together political candidates to take questions from the audience and discuss their platforms.
The League of Women Voters of Northern Nevada, partnered with Sierra Nevada Forums, American Association of University Women Capital Branch, PFLAG Carson Region, Partnership Carson City, and the Carson City Arts and Culture Coalition are hosting the series, the last of which will be held tonight, Tuesday, October 16.
In attendance were Sheriff’s candidates, Sheriff Kenny Furlong, and candidate Lorne Houle. For Carson City Board of Supervisors Ward 1, Stacey Giomi and John Wood. For Justice of the Peace, Dept 2: Kristen Luis and Ryan Russell.
During the Tuesday evening forum held tonight, the candidates who will be speaking are:
Congressional District 2: Mark Amodei and Clint Koble.
State Senate District 6: Tina Dais-Hersey and Ben Kieckhefer
State Senate District 17: Curtis Cannon and James Settelmeyer
Assembly District 39: Patricia Ackerman, Paul Cwalina, and Jim Wheeler
Assembly District 40: Al Kramer and Autumn Zemke
During the forums, candidates are given a two minute opener in which they usually discuss why they are running for office, why they are qualified, and what they will do if elected. Then, the forum opens with the public asking questions for candidates until all questions have been asked and answered. Then, a two minute wrap up is allotted to each candidate.
Tonight, the forum will begin at 6 pm.
Early voting is from Saturday, October 20 through Friday, November 2. Early voting takes place on the first floor of the County Courthouse, 885 East Musser Street, Carson City. Election Day is Tuesday November 6.
