District Attorney Jason Woodbury has called for a coroner’s inquest relating to the Feb. 15, 2020 killing of Clint Garett Malone in Carson City. Malone, 37, died as the result of multiple stab wounds inflicted at a residence on Woodside Drive.

While the seat for Ward 2 will be filled following the election on Nov. 4, another seat is open and will be filled by appointment.

The seat for Ward 3 is currently held by Supervisor Lori Bagwell, who will be vacating now that she has been elected Carson City’s mayor.

MINDEN — East Fork Justice Court has introduced virtual and audio appearances to court proceedings and made standard forms available electronically to accommodate the public and put safety first during the spread of COVID-19.

The Carson City Clerk and Recorder’s Office will continue to record all documents that are received electronically or by mail, as well as, answer telephone calls and emails.

Partly sunny skies and cool temperatures are expected Thursday with a warmup in time for the weekend. Events ahead around the capital city include a meeting of the Board of Supervisors, a discussion on holiday stress and dementia offered by Carson Tahoe Expressions Memory Care, and an afternoon hike hosted by Muscle Powered. Also ahead, Carson City's GOP will host a discussion with several political leaders representing the capital city. State Assemblyman Al Kramer, Sheriff Ken Furlong and Justice of the Peace Kristin Luis will meet with the Carson City Republicans at the next general meeting on Thursday, Nov. 21 at 6 p.m. Our political leaders will discuss their involvement with politics and how they are working with the community they serve. Our panel discussion will cover topics from them running for office, insights about their campaigns and how they are making an impact for our community.

It’s long been established that addiction is a disease, one that can be overcome with treatment. Carson City’s courts, through options such as alternative sentencing, drug court, and the most recent addition of misdemeanor treatment court, has taken steps to combat addiction.

However, there is a hole in their treatment process, and a large one at that: safe, sober housing.

Jordan Aaron was the president of a Carson City sushi restaurant who once ran for justice of the peace in Arizona. Antonio Pastini was the brash ex-Chicago cop who befriended a brothel mogul and spun yarns of a bare-knuckled youth in the Windy City that read like a cross between “Goodfellas” and “The Outsiders.”
They were one and the same person.

Justice of the Peace Thomas Armstrong ordered today that Wilber Ernesto Martinez-Guzman be transferred from Carson City to Washoe County to answer charges relating to the January murders of four people in Washoe and Douglas counties.

The winners of the 2018 contested Carson City elections are Stacey Giomi for Carson City Board of Supervisors Ward 1, Kristin Luis for Carson City Justice of the Peace Department 2, and Kenny Furlong for Carson City Sheriff.

UPDATE 9:40PM: 100 percent of ballots for Carson City have been counted, including absentee and early voting. Here are the final results for the contested races:

Kenny Furlong: 17,536 (78.86 percent)

Carson City – The League of Women Voters of Northern Nevada held four election forums this month. The Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall in Carson City was the venue for each event.

The public town forum Monday evening at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall brought together political candidates to take questions from the audience and discuss their platforms.

The League of Women Voters of Northern Nevada, partnered with Sierra Nevada Forums, American Association of University Women Capital Branch, PFLAG Carson Region, Partnership Carson City, and the Carson City Arts and Culture Coalition are hosting the series, the last of which will be held tonight, Tuesday, October 16.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Supervisory Association has endorsed Ryan Russell for Carson City Justice of the Peace, Department 2.

Membership of the CCSSA is comprised of sergeants, lieutenants and captains of the Carson City Sheriff’s Department. Association President Jim Primka says members voted this month on the endorsement. “We are proud to support Ryan Russell in his campaign for Justice of the Peace” he said.

General Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018. Early voting will be open at the Carson City Courthouse Oct. 20 through Nov. 2.

A 53-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Tuesday for suspicion of gross misdemeanor destruction of property and misdemeanor domestic battery, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

A 63-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Wednesday on a felony warrant alleging two counts trafficking a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school, a sheriff’s deputy said.
