The featured speakers at Monday's Democratic luncheon will be Sondra Cosgrove, PhD, professor of history at the College of Southern Nevada, former president of the League of Women Voters of Nevada, and founder and executive director of both Fair Maps Nevada and Vote Nevada.

The featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon will be former Carson City Fire Chief Stacey Giomi, currently a member of the Board of Supervisors representing Ward 1. He assumed office on January 7, 2019 and is running for reelection.

Giomi serves as the Board of Supervisor's representative on the Carson City Cultural and Tourism Authority, the Carson Water Sub-Conservancy District, and the Western Nevada Legislative Coalition. He is also Carson City’s representative to the Nevada Association of Counties.

The winners of the 2018 contested Carson City elections are Stacey Giomi for Carson City Board of Supervisors Ward 1, Kristin Luis for Carson City Justice of the Peace Department 2, and Kenny Furlong for Carson City Sheriff.

UPDATE 9:40PM: 100 percent of ballots for Carson City have been counted, including absentee and early voting. Here are the final results for the contested races:

Carson City Ward 1 Supervisor Karen Abowd hosts her monthly Walkabout a week early, this Friday, July 13. Everyone is invited to participate in the conversation that has allowed Abowd, throughout her tenure, to understand her constituency’s concerns and desires for the community moving forward.

The 2018 mid-term election season is taking shape in Carson City as several local candidates have filed for election or re-election to non-partisan posts this week at the Carson City Clerk-Recorder’s Office.

Few restaurants in Carson City, or Northern Nevada for that matter, have been as successful for as long as Cafe at Adele's has.

On Monday, filing for various Carson City elected offices began, with no surprises and thus far two contested races, Justice of the Peace Dept. 2, which has been known since the filing deadline of Jan. 12 and the Carson City Sheriff seat. Filing dates for all offices other than judicial runs from March 5-16, 2018.

Retired Carson City Fire Chief Stacey Giomi filed candidacy paperwork Monday for the open Carson City Supervisor Ward 1 seat, which is being vacated by Karen Abowd who announced last fall that she would not be running for a third term.
